Kanu Hawaii seeks nominations of volunteers for its partnership program with United Airlines that salutes outstanding volunteers in Hawaii as part of Volunteer Week Hawaii 2022.

United is celebrating Volunteer Week and its 75th anniversary of service to Hawaii with a donation of two pairs of roundtrip travel certificates from Hawaii to any United destination in the United States, Canada, Caribbean, Mexico or Central America.

“Volunteers are a vital workforce extension for Hawaii’s nonprofits that rely on those willing to give time and talent to move missions forward,” said Kanu Hawaii Executive Director Keone Kealoha. “This is a great opportunity to give back to them and celebrate the countless contributions of so many.”

Individuals, groups and organizations can go to KanuHawaii.org/United to nominate a volunteer, then share the online link to collect votes from friends and family. The top winners who garner the most votes will win roundtrip tickets for two. Self-nominations are also welcome.

Nominations are accepted now and the public can cast their vote starting Sunday, April 24. The winners will be announced at United’s 75th anniversary celebration on May 2.

Organized by Kanu Hawaii, Volunteer Week Hawaii 2022 (April 17 to 23) aims for unprecedented unity of kama‘aina and visitors alike as Hawaii emerges from the pandemic. More than 10,000 volunteers are anticipated to gather in support of hundreds of charities at more than 300 events held statewide.
