Annie Bailado

Annie Bailado, 97, of Kailua-Kona, died Feb. 25, 2022 at her residence. Born Dec. 29, 1924, in Keopu Mauka, she was a macadamia nut and coffee farmer, lauhala weaver and member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Eucharistic Minister, South Kona Senior Citizens Club, Kamehameha School Cultural Advisory Group and Keauhou-Kahaluu Education Group of Kamehameha Schools.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. April 30 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Honaunau. Mass will begin at 10 a.m. with burial to follow in the church’s cemetery. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.

She is survived by brother, Philip (Clementine) Pai of Honaunau; hanai sister, Mabel Pai of Kailua-Kona; caregivers, Mahealani (Diana) Pai of Kailua-Kona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Hugh Andrews

Hugh Emmet Andrews, 77, of Hilo, died Dec. 19, 2021 in Costa Mesa, California. Born in 1944 in Hilo, he was a former machinist for Momac Products and a member of St. Matthew Catholic church.

Friends may call at 8:15 a.m. April 29 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. Mass at 9:30 a.m. followed by an inurnment at Homelani Memorial Park.

He is survived by sister, Clare Andrews of Hilo; brother-in-law, William Jones of Kailua-Kona; an aunt; and numerous cousins.

Cynthia Dias

Cynthia “Cindy” Mae Dias, 66, of Kailua-Kona, died April 18, 2022, at her residence. Born Feb. 20, 1956 in Honokaa, she was a retired account clerk for Kona Community Hospital and co-owner of E-C Tarps.

Services to be held at a later date.

She is survived by husband, Eric Dias of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Melissa (Michael) Hoff of California, Darlene (BJ) Freitas Sr. of Kailua-Kona, and Layna (Gideon Nakoa) Dias of Kealakekua; brother, Arsenio (Ann) Quanan Jr. of Waimea; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Albert Yamasaki

Albert Hajime Yamasaki, 80, of Hawi died April 10, 2022, at his residence. Born in Kohala, he was a retired service station attendant for the former Shige’s Service Station in Kohala, an avid fisherman and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Private services held.

He is survived by siblings, Matsue Matsumoto of Hilo, Masaye Hayes of Redwood City, California, Eunice Kawamoto of Kohala, Marilyn Huff of Chula Vista, California, Dorothy (Robert) Cambra of Kohala, and Rodney (Renate) Yamasaki and Wayne (Arleen) Yamasaki, all of Honolulu; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Wakako Yoshida

Wakako Yoshida, 102, of Laupahoehoe died March 5, 2022, at her residence. Born in Waiakea Uka Camp No. 9, she was a homemaker and member of the Papaaloa Hongwanji Mission.

Private services held. Family requests no flowers and no koden (monetary offerings).

She is survived by children, Arlene Kawabata of Waimea, Gary Yoshida and Jerry Yoshida, both of Honolulu, Glenn (Joanne) Yoshida of Cupertino, California, Lloyd (Mary) Yoshida of Sunnyvale, California, and Lei (Anthony) Lum of Kailua, Oahu; sister-in-law, Yaeko Yoshimura of Honolulu; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Ludloff Oliveira

Ludloff William Oliveira, 91, of Kurtistown died April 12, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired groundskeeper for the University of Hawaii-Hilo and Hawaii Community College and a devoted Catholic.

He is survived by numerous family members, relatives and friends.

Robert Drummond

Robert “Rebel” Drummond, 69, of Ocean View died Jan. 11, 2022 in Ocean View. Born May 8, 1952, in Chamblee, Georgia, he worked for Atlantic Steel, was a classic car enthusiast and co-founder of “The Hillbilly Car Club.”

Friends may call May 8 at Manuka State Park for a celebration of life. Pot luck is requested.

He is survived by companion, Joyce Roberts of Ocean View; daughter, Marion Caldwell of Rome, Georgia; and various friends and hanai family.
