Frances Kaukini-Austria

Frances “Kalei” Kaleipua Kaukini-Austria, 87, of Hilo, died April 3, 2022, at a private care home in Mountain View. Born in Papa, South Kona, she was a retired medical technologist from Hilo Medical Center.

Private services held.

She is survived by stepson, Wendell Austria of Kalapana; sisters, Ella Tirado of Hilo, and Constance Hao of Oahu; aunt, Ann Kahawai; uncle, Leslie Wo; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

Larry Hernandez Sr.

Larry Wayne Hernandez Sr., 74, of Hilo died April 11, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Waipahu, Oahu, he was a retired diesel mechanic for Willocks Construction, U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran, and member of the Koa Puna Motorcycle Club, Hawaii Horses Owners Association, Big Island Auto Club and Hilo Oval Track.

Private services.

He is survived by wife, Irene Hernandez of Hilo; children, Larry Hernandez Jr. of Majuro, Marshall Islands, Mario (Kristen) Hernandez of Keaau, and Marla (Gerald) Saragosa of Hilo; stepchildren, Mina (Peter) Diaz of Las Vegas, Rita (Daniel) Castro of Hilo, and Jesse (Sherlina Agulto) Tenorio, Manny (Novelyn) Tenorio, Ignacio Tenorio and Joaquina (Josh Mafnas) Tenorio of Saipan; siblings, Wallace (Lorraine) Hernandez of Waipahu, Oahu, Charlene (Paul) Torres of Yuba City, California, and Gail (Jerald) Harris of Sparks, Nevada; 42 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one uncle; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
