Tuesday simply wasn’t Kealakehe’s day.

The Waveriders fell to the Trojans of Mililani 25-0 in their HHSAA Division I quarterfinal matchup at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

On offense, Kealakehe was completely stymied by Mililani pitcher Ashley Ogata. The Mililani senior struck out all 15 batters she faced in the five-inning contest to record a perfect game.

Kealekehe unfortunately didn’t fare much better on defense either. Powered by a 15-run second inning, the Trojans quickly removed any doubt of the game’s outcome, knocking out 24 hits and plating 25 runs in five innings.

The 5-1 Waveriders will look to bounce back from the loss when they return to Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium to take on either Iolani or Campbell Wednesday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.

In other first round games Wednesday, the Warriors face Kaimuki at 2:15 p.m. after Honokaa takes on Aiea at noon.

The Dragons earned their spot with an 11-3 win against Pahoa in the BIIF’s third-place game. Malie Espejo went the distance and struck out eight, going 2 for 4 with an inside-the-park home run. Iliana Kaiamakini hit a triple for Honokaa (5-3).
