Scott Hansen

Scott Alan Hansen, 62, died April 15, 2022, in Honolulu. Born Nov. 24, 1959, he was a professional painter and loved riding motorcycle, music, swimming and family.

Services will be announced at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Catherine Hansen, son, Erik, and brothers Michael Hansen and Wayne Hansen

Marie Mendonca

Marie Ann Mendonca, 93, of Hilo, died April 9, 2022, at her residence. Born in Hilo, she was retired from the former Mitchell Laundry and member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. May 18 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou for a 10 a.m. Mass. Graveside urn committal service to follow at Homelani Memorial Park Section 1. Casual attire.

She is survived by hanai son, Rod Cambra; sisters, Bernice Mendonca, and Margaret Cambra; sister-in-law, Jane Mendonca; four nephews; two nieces; and numerous cousins.

Stanford Barcase

Stanford “Stan” Louis Barcarse, 74, of Hilo, died April 21, 2022, at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Lihue, Kauai, he was a retired branch manager from various financial institutions, U.S. Army staff sergeant and Vietnam War veteran, Temple Member and High Priest for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ainaola Ward, committee member of the Hawaii County Vietnam War Memorial, and member of American Legion Hilo Post 3, Machado Acres Association, Exchange Club and Boy Scouts of America.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. May 16 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 10 a.m. service. Graveside committal service to follow at noon at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 pavilion.

He is survived by wife, Dency Barcarse of Hilo; sons, Damien Kaimana (Kea) Barcarse and Michael (Tierney) Barcarse of Hilo; hanai son, Kahale (Daisy) Kim of Hilo; daughters, Tanya (Aziz) Williams of Honolulu, Sandi (Travis) Kamaka of Wailuku, Maui; brothers, Malcolm (Betty Ann) Barcarse of Honolulu, Alex (Debbie) Tejada of Hilo; sister, Leona Fukuyama of Hilo; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Derek Noble

Derek Wayne Noble, 68, of Pepeekeo, died April 23 at the Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Kohala and was a truck driver with the former Hilo Coast Processing Co. and a Veteran of the Army National Guard.

Visitation 9-11 a.m. Tuesday (May 17) at the Dodo Mortuary chapel. Prayer service at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Joanne Noble of Pepeekeo; daughters, Shanelle Noble of Keaau, Laurie (Quinton Butts) Noble of Pepeekeo and Jenna Noble of Honokaa; mother, Roseline Noble of Hawi; brother, William (Carol) Noble of Kailua-Kona; sister, Barbara (James, II) Lincoln of Hawi; five grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mitsue Iwashita

Mitsue “Mitzi” Iwashita, 88, of Pahoa, died April 12, 2022 at the Straub Medical Center on Oahu. Born March 10, 1934, in Pohakea (Paauilo Mauka), she worked as a pantry helper at numerous restaurants, member of the Pahoa Nikkei Jin Kai, an avid cake decorator and skilled seamstress.

Friends may call at noon June 5 at the “Isles” area on Lihiwai Street in Hilo for a celebration of life. The family requests that flowers and koden (monetary offerings) be omitted.

She is survived by children, Barry Iwashita of Hilo, Bertram Iwashita and Betsy (Richard) Okamura, all of Pahoa, and Brenda (David) Lawyer and Blanche (Roger Sund) Iwashita, all of Keaau; brother, Hisao (Jan) Sato of Canby, Oregon; sisters, Hisae Masaki of Hilo and Natsuko Ishizu of Pearl City, Oahu; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
