Dr. Tim’s Medicine Band will be returning to the First Friday, Art After Dark, as the headliners at the Green Fale, playing Vintage Music from 5:30 till 8:30 p.m. this evening in Holualoa Village.

Dr. Tim’s Medicine Band, has been performing in Hawaii for over 30 years. The band, for many years, has been the standard headliners of the Avocado Festival, the Mango Festival, the Going Nuts for the Holidays Festival, and the Kona-Stock Woodstock Festival. He is also a regular playing at the Art After Dark Holualoa First Friday celebration and Christmas events, and at the Kokua Kailua Stroll.

In recent months Dr. Tim and the band were chosen to perform at the Waimea Town Market. He also performed with Leslie Harlib at the Blue Dragon, and has played at a number of restaurants, parties, and special events in West Hawaii.

The band includes talented Big Island musicians like Dr. Tim, performing vocals and guitar, Solomon Choo, playing lead guitar and harmonica, Davina Mar on ukulele, percussion, and vocals, and drummer Tommy Eliot, all of whom have contributed for years to the local music scene. The band is rounded out with the seriously cool bass player, Larry McCabe.

Special guest artists playing with the band may include Michaelaloha, a trumpeter, healer and musician who has directed his own musical productions and been part of several well-known local and touring bands. Harmonica solos are sometimes provided by Terry Taube, who also can be seen backing up Henry Kapono and Johnny Valentine at local clubs and resorts. And Mike “the Ear” Rosato, who has been Dr. Tims music partner and adding his vocals and harmony, for over three decades.

The band plays vintage music, including everything from classic Rock and Roll, Elvis, the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, the Everly Brothers, James Taylor, The Byrds, Leon Russell, Crosby Stills and Nash, country, and country rock, to old jazz standards, blues, folk, and Hawaiian tunes.
