Rodrigo Sadumiano Sr.

Rodrigo Oandasan Sadumiano Sr., 77, of Ocean View, died Dec. 9, 2021 at Kona Community Hospital. Born April 11, 1944, in Paoay, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a coffee farmer, janitor at the former Kona Surf and Kona Lagoon hotels, and a landscaper and machine operator for Hawaiian Host.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. June 18 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Honaunau; Mass will begin at 11 a.m. The family requests casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Ruth Sadumiano of Ocean View; sons, Shannon Akiu of Honalo and Rodgrigo (Susan) Sadumiano Jr. of Kawaihae; daughters, Rosie (Ben) Wroten and Lynette (Vaoto Muasau) Sadumiano, all of Honaunau, Rowena (Cory Suzuki) Sadumiano of Hookena, Josie (Jorge) Rincon-Garcia and Joy (Joel Corrales) Sadumiano, all of Ocean View, Kanani (Jareb Ombao) Sadumiano and Selena (Ronnie Torres) Sadumiano, all of Kealakehe; brothers, Herminio (Merlinda) Sadumiano of Kealakekua, Ricardo (Victoria) Sadumiano of Waimea, Manny (Josie) Sadumiano of Kealakehe and Benjamin (Sayong) Sadumiano of San Francisco; several other siblings of the Philippines; 32 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ephifinia Sadumiano of Kailua-Kona; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jose Valderama

Jose Barrios Valderama, 89, of Hilo, died May 9, 2022 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born June 2, 1932, in Kohala, he retired from Mauna Kea Sugar Co. and farmed for a hobby.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. June 8, 2022 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel; Celebration of Life at 6 p.m. Friends may also for Mass at 9:30 a.m. June 9 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. Burial at Homelani Memorial Park (Ilima Section).

He is survived by wife, Lolita Valderama of Hilo; children, Delia (David) Wilson of the mainland, Alma (Daniel) Beall of Alaska, and Maggie (Andi) Agres-Valderama and Jovanni Valderama of Hilo; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Martina Marinias and Catherine Valderama of Oahu, and Sofronia Villamar of California; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Haku Waipa

Haku Mo’i Waipa, 23, of Pahoa died April 23, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a self-employed handyman, artist, and member of the Koa Puna Motorcycle Club.

Friends may call at 2 p.m. June 11 at the Ainaloa Longhouse on Ainaloa Blvd. Service will begin at 3 p.m. Casual attire.

He is survived by daughter, Kanani Iaukea-Adams of Hilo; mother, Lynda Waipa of Hilo; siblings, Anton Adams of Hilo, Justin Maldonado of Waimea, and Alika Waipa and Troy Waipa of Pahoa; maternal grandmother, Gerry Lotspeich of Minnesota; maternal grandfather, Calvin Herman of Minnesota; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Albert Idemoto

Albert A. Idemoto, 90, of Hilo, died April 7, 2022, at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired branch manager of Bank of Hawaii, U.S. Army veteran and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and East Hawaii Hiroshima Kenjin Kai.

Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.

He is survived by son, Steven (Kayleigh) Idemoto of Hilo; daughter, Michele Idemoto of Hilo; brother, Kenneth Idemoto of Pearl City, Oahu; a grandson; a granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
