Rotary Club of Kona awards $27,500 in scholarships to area students

The Rotary Club of Kona Community Foundation awarded some $27,500 in scholarships to area high school and college students.

The following scholarships were awarded for 2022:

· Ken and Marge Clewett Scholarship awarded to Lauren Masquida a graduate of Kealakehe High School.

· Jim and Sis Bedingfield Scholarship awarded to Kayla Pak a graduate of Konawaena High School.

· James Lightner Scholarship awarded to Camylle McDonald a graduate of Kealakehe High School.

· Ron and Kathy Hawkes Vocational Scholarship awarded to Connor Aparicio-Bill a graduate of Kealakehe High School.

· Palamanui Scholarship awarded to Leilani Ault.

· Palamanui Scholarship awarded to Kayla Seguancia.

· A Special Scholarship Award was awarded to Staci Nakamoto.

· A Special Scholarship Award was awarded to Sydni Nakamoto

Major funding for the foundation comes from the PGA each year. The Rotary Club of Kona manages the volunteers each year at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai in January for the PGA Tour Champions.

Other individuals and organizations may make donations to the foundation. The funds are invested and the proceeds from the investments are used for funding the scholarships each year. The foundation also funds community projects that are managed by the Rotary Club of Kona.
