Konawaena High School graduates Manami Alspach and Sean Kobayashi are the recipients of the 2022 Kona Japanese Civic Association scholarships.

Each will receive a $1,500 scholarship to further their education. Alspach and Kobayashi were selected based on their financial need, excellent academic records, community service and their interest in promoting and perpetuating the Japanese culture.

Alspach will attend Keio University in Japan and plans to major in architecture. Kobayashi plans to major in business at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

The Kona Japanese Civic Association perpetuates, preserves and promotes awareness of the Japanese heritage, culture and diversity.
