The Waimea Community Association will host a virtual candidate forum from 5 to 8 p.m. this evening for state Senate District 4, House District 8, and County Council districts 1, 5 and 9.

Ballots are expected in mailboxes by July 26 for the Aug. 13 primary election. All candidates for the four offices have been invited and most are expected to participate including:

• State Senate District 4: Herbert (Tim) Richards and Nicholas M. Tancheff

• State House District 8: Makai Freitas, Monique Cobb, Adams Perreira and David A. Tarnas

• County Council District 1: Heather Kimball

• County Council District 9: Jeff Kalani Coakley, Cindy Evans and Chris (Kalei) Toafili

Each candidate will have 15 minutes to interact with voters virtually, beginning with a brief introduction, and then a series of questions gleaned from the community. The community is urged to submit questions for the candidates relevant to the specific office they are seeking by emailing them to waimeacommunityassociation@gmail.com.

The forum will be livestreamed via Facebook and YouTube. For more information and links to the livestreams, visit waimeatown.org.
