Anita Lynn Avelino Ramos, 66, of Hilo, died June 20, 2022 at her residence. Born Jan. 30, 1956, in Pahala, she was a homemaker.

Lillian Whitney

Lillian Leilani Whitney, 83, of Hilo died June 26, 2022, at Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Ka‘u, she was retired custodian for the state Department of Education and of Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church and Ke Ola Pono No Na Kupuna.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. July 12 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 8 a.m. July 13 at Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church Hall for 10:30 a.m. Mass. Committal services will follow at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 Pavilion. Casual attire.

She is survived by husband, Delbert Whitney Sr.; children, Lillian Ioane, Francis Laimana, Brenda Laimana, Michael (Connie) Laimana, Robert Whitney Sr., April Chung, Delbert (LeeAnn) Whitney Jr., Dellyn (Michael) Gomes, Joel (Naomi) Whitney, and Daysha (Tyler) Tablit, all of Hilo; 32 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters; cousins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Romeo Justo

Romeo Justo, 64, of Honokaa, died June 19, 2022 at Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born Nov. 14, 1957 in the Philippines, he worked in housekeeping at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital.

Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. July 13 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Honokoaa for a 9:45 a.m. Eulogy followed by Mass at 10 a.m.

He is survived by spouse, Imelda Dacquel Justo of Honokaa; mother, Juanita Estavillo Justo of the Philippines; sons, Duane (Christy Corpuz) Pira-Dacquel and Daniel (Kamlin) Dacquel, all of Honokaa; daughters, Leslie (Ariel Rosenbloom) Justo of Ocean View, and Krisztina (Victor) Patao of Waikoloa; sisters, Trinidad Manarpaac, Adarlina (Stanley) Shiroma, and Leticia (Renaldo) Agno, all of Hilo; 10 grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Calvin Sato

Calvin “Cals” Shigeto Sato, 73, of Laupahoehoe, died June 2, 2022, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Ookala, he was a maintenance worker for Brantley Center Inc. and The Arc of Hilo.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. July 15 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 5 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire and no koden (monetary offerings), flowers or refreshments.

He is survived by brother, Peter (Lianne) Sato of Umauma; sisters, Lillian (Gilbert) Mattos, Thelma Revilla, both of Hilo, and Edna Silva of Papaaloa; an aunt; and nieces and nephews.

Kenneth Apaka

Kenneth Ah Tet Apaka, 92, of Hilo, died May 18, 2022, at home. Born in Lihue, Kauai, he was a retired supervisor for the former Hawaiian Telephone Co. and member of Mauna Kea Hawaiian Pidgin Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Florida Tagalicud

Florida Tagalicud, 92, of Pahoa, died June 21, 2022 in Honolulu. Born Oct. 31, 1929, in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was worked for S&L Diamond Head Papaya Farm and was a member of the Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. July 16 at Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pahoa for 9:30 a.m. Mass. Burial at Homelani Memorial Park (Ilima Section) at 1 p.m.

She is survived by children, Ofelia Aguilar, Pacita Sebastian, Emilia Moratalla, Zenaida Agpalasin, Gabriela Ramos of Philippines, Pedro (Mancel) Tagalicud and Josefina (Casamero) Arabiana of Pahoa, Maria Cora (Nick) Quiles, Jesusa Tagalicud and Soledad Taglicud of Honolulu; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Fanny K. Alcosiba, 74, of Kailua-Kona, died May 5, 2022 at Rosita’s Care Home. Born Aug. 15, 1947, in Honolulu, she was an accountant for Kamaaina Motors in Hilo.

Lydia Kahumoku

Lydia K. Kahumoku, 87, of Kailua-Kona, died June 9, 2022 at Kona Community Hospital. Born April 15, 1935, in North Kona, she was a security officer.

She is survived by sons, Lawrence Kahumoku of Hilo and William (Sharon) Dunaway of North Dakota; daughter, Lauren Kahumoku of Hilo; brother, Joseph Keka of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Harriet Shimooka of Kealakekua and Eva Nino of Kohala; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Thomas O’Hare

Thomas Michael O’Hare, 89, of Kailua-Kona and formerly of Long Island, New York, died June 25, 2022 at Kona Community Hospital. Born May 12, 1933 in New York, he was a retire heavy equipment operating engineer, member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 15 and a U.S. Navy veteran.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Dottie Harris-O’Hare of Long Island, New York; children, Mary (Ben) Sulliban of Kailua-Kona, Maureen O’Hare of New York City, Teresa (Jimmy) Lyons of Levittown, New York, Michael (Jill) O’Hare of Hicksville, New York, Cathleen (Timothy) Fitzgerald of Knoxville, Tennessee, Anne-Margaret O’Hare of New York City, and Christina O’Hare of Bellerose, New York; stepson, Mark Harris of Woodbury, New York; five grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; one niece; and two nephews.
