Dominador Coloma

Dominador “Don” L. Coloma, 87, of Hilo, died June 28, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Ookala; he was a retired Hawaii County Deputy Fire Chief, County of Hawaii Housing Inspector, Hawaii County East Civil Defense Commissioner, former Instructor at Hawaii Community College, retired U.S. Army veteran and member of the Hawaii Fire Chiefs Association, Akaka Falls Lions Club and Young Men’s Institute Y.M.I. in Hawaii.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. July 14 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo; Mass at 9:30 a.m. Urn committal will be held at noon July 19 at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 Pavilion.

He is survived by wife, Vivian Coloma of Hilo; daughters, Debbie (Mark Smith) Coloma, Sandy (Darrel) Sato and Francine (David Phillips) Coloma of Hilo; son, Don (Christy) Coloma of Hilo; sister, Connie Cadacio of Oahu; brother in-law, James Barrietos of Chicago; three grandsons; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Timothy Shigemi

Timothy Katsunari Shigemi, 64, of Mountain View, died July 4, 2022 at his residence. Born in Hilo, he served as an elder in the Puna Hawaii Pidgin congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Terry-Lee Shigemi of Mountain View; sons, Jen (Mariko) Shigemi and Isaac Shigemi; daughter, Tia Shigemi; mother, Leonora Shigemi; brothers, Kevin (Jeannette) Shigemi, Mark (Michal) Shigemi, Steven (Wendy) Shigemi; daughter, Jodie Shigemi; and nieces, nephews, and numerous family.

Cynthia Matsuda

Cynthia Sueko Matsuda, 70, died on June 20, 2022 at her residence in Kaneohe, Oahu. Born Jan. 22, 1952 in Kohala, she was employed at The Queen’s Medical Center.

Services will be held at a later date with internment at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific on Oahu.

She is survived by son, Tristen Matsuda of Kaneohe, Oahu; sister Barbara (Augustine) Kise Arguello of Cypress, California; brother-in-law Stephen Burbank of Hoopa, California; and nieces and nephews, cousins, uncles and aunts.

Alice Smith

Alice Akie Smith, 89, of Hilo and formerly of Pearl City, Oahu, died July 4, 2022. Born in Pearl City, Oahu, she was a retired bartender and waitress with the former KK Tei and Henri’s Restaurants and was also a member of the Gaza Yonaguzuku Doshikai.

Urn committal service July 16 at the Oahu Cemetery Columbarium in Honolulu. Casual attire. Condolences may be sent to the Smith Family, 68E Kahaopea St., Hilo, HI 96720.

She is survived by sons, Earl (Paris) Mizumoto of Mililani and Anthony (Stella) Smith of Hilo; daughters, Lydia (Larry) Katsuda of Maile, Debbie Kahalewai of Seattle, and Patricia Smith of Hilo; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donald Lum

Donald Biart Lum, 78, of Kurtistown, died June 30, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center. Born Nov. 30, 1943 in Kaneohe, Oahu, he was a proprietor of Bay View Inn restaurant in Kaneohe, Oahu, served as a deputy sheriff for the State of Hawaii and was a member of the Lion’s Club.

Services held.

He is survived by son, Brandon (Sasha) Dalgarno; daughter, Haylie (Brad) Kokoski; brother, Francis Arthur Lum; and four grandchildren.

John Bounos

John Mitchell Beyer Bounos, 79, of Kailua-Kona, died June 24, 2022 at his residence. Born June 30, 1942, in Honolulu, he was a retired heavy construction mason foreman for the City and County of Honolulu, member of UPW, Alu Like Kona Kupuna club, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Big Island Deaf Club and also represented USA at the 1969 and 1973 World Games for Deaf Olympics Men’s Volleyball.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. July 16 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kailua-Kona; service will begin at 10. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Roberta Bounos of Kailua-Kona; sons, Jimmyjohn Bounos of San Jose, California, Leroy (Noelle) Bounos of Honolulu and Mitchell (Megan Fox) Bounos of Lawai, Kauai; daughter, Amelia (Salvador) Uribe of Ocean View; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ted O’Brien

Ted Harker O’Brien, 71, of Kailua-Kona, died June 26, 2022 at his residence. Born July 18, 1950, in Anchorage, Alaska, he was a self-employed owner of O’Brien Plumbing.

Private services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by son, Peter Ebaniz of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Maila O’Brien of Ocean Beach, California, Aysha O’Brien, Luanna O’Brien and Lahela O’Brien, all of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Shannon O’Brien of Las Vegas and Kerry O’Brien of Benicia, California; and two grandchildren.
