Jeannette Silva-Sampaio

Jeannette Rose Leimomi Silva-Sampaio, 93, of Mountain View died June 30, 2022 at Hale Anuenue. Born Aug. 20, 1928 on Oahu, she was retired from the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

Graveside services and committal at 10 a.m. July 15 at Homelani Memorial Park.

She is survived by daughters, Rosemary Saberon and Judith Kaeo, both of Hilo; sons, Michael (Tess) Anthony Silva-Sampaio of California and Samuel Harris Silva-Sampaio of Hilo; daughter-in-law, Bridget Silva-Sampaio of Glenwood; sister, Helene (Raymond) Paulette Akimseu of Honolulu; brother-in-law, Norbert Hinau of Honolulu; 24 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Charles Hacker Sr.

Charles Edward Hacker Sr., 86 of Pahoa and formerly of Cookstown, New Jersey, died June 29, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Fayette County, West Virginia, he was a retired manager for P.A.D.E. Auto Auctions in Pennsylvania, a U.S. Air Force veteran, and member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

Services will be held at a later date in New Jersey.

He is survived by daughters, Marie (Chris) Biss of Suffolk, England, and Kasey (Rodney) Eisenhour of Pahoa; brother, Ron (Carolyn) Wolfe of West Virginia; companion, Diane Kaufmann of Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lewis Andrade

Lewis “Lew” Andrade, 85, of Hilo, died July 5, 2022 at his residence. Born in Paauhau, he was a retired tax return examiner for the Kauai State Tax office.

Private services will be held.

He is survived by daughters, Rosemary (Dayle) Orr of Anderson Island, Washington and Stephanie Andrade of Lihue, Kauai; sisters, Joan Dias Souza of Pohakea and Jessie Doreen Anderson of Hilo; brothers, Rio Dotario of Richmond, California, Donald (Masako) Dotario of Richmond, Virgina, Stanley Dotario and Ronnie (Carol) Dotario, all of Kalaheo, Kauai, and Dennis Andrade of Hilo; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Quinton Kainoa

Quinton “Quinty” Kaikena Kahelelani Kainoa, 2, of Kohala, died April 15, 2022 at his residence. He was born in Waimea.

He is survived by,parents, James Keanu Kainoa and Irey-Babes Nii; brother, Peyton Kainoa; paternal grandfather, Carl Keoki Kainoa; maternal grandmother, Jerilyn Kaawaloa; maternal great-grandparents, Michael and Gladys Miller; and numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.

Tamayo Nagami

Tamayo F. Nagami, 88, of Hilo, died May 18, 2022, at her residence. Born March 22, 1934 in Kurtistown, she was a retired admitting clerk for Hilo Hospital and a member of the Church of the Holy Cross in Hilo.

Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary offerings).

She is survived by husband, Teruo Nagami of Hilo; son, Lester Nagami of Hilo; daughters, Sandra (Robert) McCleery of Pacific Grove, California and Diann Nagami of Santa Clara, California; sister, Masayo Kanetani of Kurtistown; sister-in-law, Rusty Fukano of Hilo; one grandchild; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Stephen Obrey

Stephen Pomaika‘i Obrey, 75, of Holualoa, died June 23, 2022 in Kealakekua. Born Sept. 26, 1946, in Honolulu, he was a manager of Grace Pacific and Vietnam War veteran.

A celebration of life will be held at noon Aug. 13 at La‘i‘opua Community Center, 74-5210 Keanalehu Drive, Kealakehe.

He is survived by son, Travis Obrey of Holualoa; daughters. Mahealani Schuckert of Seattle, Kekumaielani Obrey of Kailua-Kona and Ashley (Tracy Epstein) Obrey of Holualoa; brother, Stanley (Peggy) obrey of Trinidad, Colorado; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Joni Okino-Shiroma

Joni Itsuko Okino-Shiroma, 63, of Mountain View, died June 18, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was recently retired and a homemaker and member of Tenrikyo Kaka’ako Church.

Private services held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

She is survived by husband, Max Shiroma of Mountain View; sons, Randy Shiroma and Mitchell Shiroma of Mountain View; brothers, Ryan (Norene) Okino, Glenn (Amy) Okino and Terence Okino of Hilo; sisters, Kay (Bob) McGinty of California, Shari (Daren) Sakoda of Hawaiian Shores; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
