Vernon Silva

Vernon William Silva, 74, of Keaau, died July 13, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center. Born Nov. 4, 1947 in Kaneohe, Oahu, he was a retired bus driver for The Bus on Oahu.

A funeral service will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 1 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary Lower Chapel at Valley of the Temples in Kaneohe, Oahu; burial to follow.

He is survived by, children, Nalani (Ernest Pablo Jr.) Silva-Pablo, Jason (Laura Fabella-Silva) Silva, Nathan (Moani) Silva and Kalei Silva; siblings, Gilbert Silva Jr., Diana Konohia and Myron Shimamoto; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Tobey Crowe

Tobey “Kai’olu” Grace Crowe, 17 of Kailua-Kona died July 22, 2022. Born May 5, 2005, she was a senior at Kealakehe High School.

Service will be held 5 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 2 at Makaeo (Old Airport) pavilion in Kailua-Kona. In honor of Kai‘olu and her love for the aina, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hiki Ola where they will be planting native Hawaiian trees in support of the reforestation of Hawaii. She is survived by parents, Derek and Amber Crowe; siblings, Brayde Crowe and Eden Crowe all of Kailua-Kona, Hope Crowe Dawson and Kaden Crowe, both of Sugar Land, Texas; grandparents, Jim Crowe, Carl and Chrisanna Scharrer; aunt, Brandy (Bill) Rider; uncle, Zack Scharrer; and numerous cousins, friends and hanai ohana.

Maria Gouveia

Maria Franca Gouveia, 92, of Hilo, died July 8, 2022 at Pohai Malama Care Center. Born Aug. 16, 1929 in Portugal, she was a basket weaver and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. on Aug. 3 at Dodo Mortuary chapel; prayer service at 10 with burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Section 5. Casual attire.

She is survived by, daughters, Angela (Gerald) Araujo, Isabel Gouveia and Connie Gouveia, all of Hilo; son, Jose Gouveia of Florida; son-in-law, Alcino Rodrigues of Portugal; brother-in-law, Alvarinho Barbosa of Portugal; sisters-in-law, Maria Teixeira of Australia, Celest Teixeira and Aldina Gouveia, both of Portugal; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Julianne Losalio

Julianne Pilahi Losalio, 58, of Honaunau, died June 24, 2022 at Kona Community Hospital. Born Dec. 9, 1963, in Kealakekua, she was a nut sorter then manager for Hawaiian Host Macadamia Nut Factory, housekeeper at the former Kona Hilton Hotel, coffee picker, and a member of Pukaana Congregational Church in Kealia.

Visitation will be held at 8 a.m. Aug. 13 at Pukaana Congregational Church; service will begin at 10 The family requests purple-colored casual attire worn.

She is survived by companion, Baba Kurashige of Honaunau; mother, Daisy Losalio; son, Kelly Losalio, both of Kealia; hanai son, Kealia of Honaunau; daughter, Cheyenne Losalio of Hilo; brothers, Phillip (Sharon) Losalio Jr. of Kapolei, Oahu and John Losalio of Naalehu; sisters, Gerrianne Jiampetti of Kealia, Rayanne (Bill) Volkoff of Keauhou and Joeanne (Walter) Losalio-Watson of Ocean View; three grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
