Thomas Crosley III
Thomas Joseph Crosley III, 57, of Mountain View, died June 3, 2022. Born Sept. 13, 1964 in New Jersey, he was a metal framer by trade.
A celebration of life potluck picnic will be held 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 17 at Reeds Bay in Hilo.
He is survived by spouse, Donna Crosley; parents, Carol Bransford and Thomas Crosley II; son, Adam Asagra; daughter, Catherine (Branden) Asagra; sisters, Tina (Pat) Schutte, Elizabeth Bransford, Crystal Crosley, and Rachel Park; step-brother, Benjamin Glattis; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous aunts uncles and cousins.

Melvin Kahalehoe Jr.
Melvin Kealo Kahalehoe Jr. 62, of Keaau, died July 2, 2022, at his residence. Born July 27, 1959, in Honolulu, he was a retired flight aviation inspector for the Federal Aviation Administration and a U.S. Navy veteran.
Private services held. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
He is survived by sons, Kawika (Kristyn) Kahalehoe, Moke (Amanda) Kahalehoe, and Patrick Kahalehoe; daughter, Carolyn (Joshua Carrey) Stanley-Carrey; sisters, Elizabeth Kahalehoe-Kayona and Angel May Kahalehoe-Kayona; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Shinichi “Ray” Kitamori, 87, of Hilo, died July 6, 2022 at his residence. Born March 30, 1935, in Olaa, he worked as a carpenter.

He is survived by son, Daryle (Violet) Kitamori of Hilo; daughters, Kellie (Walter) DeRego of Mountain View and Lornalee (Mark) Karvas of Hilo; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Esteban Salmo
Esteban Sol Salmo, 101, of Pahala, died July 18, 2022 at his residence. Born in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was a retired Planting Machine Crewman at the Former Ka’u Sugar Co. and a member of Assembly of God Church in Pahala.
Visitation 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Salmo’s residence, 96-1250 Pumeli St., Pahala; service at 6 p.m. Casual attire. Dinner to follow.
He is survived by wife, Ruby Salmo of Pahala; daughters, Furtonata (Milano) Avenue of Pahala, Carmelita (Aurelio) Jara of Naalehu and Merly (Nestor) Somera of Florida; sons, Onofre (Carmelita) Salmo of Naalehu, Evaristo (Aquilina) Salmo and Victor (Desiree) Salmo of Pahala, Romulo (Cherie) Salmo and Esteve (Brandi) Salmo of Hilo; step-son, Roger (Joy) Capueta of Pahala; step-daughter, Analyn (Oliver) Candaroma of Naalehu; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Betty R. “Aunty Betty” Hunter Obermann, 73, of Keaau, died July 20, 2022. Born Sept. 18, 1948 in Albuquerque, NM, she was a realtor by trade, long time neighborhood watch coordinator and a member of Na Po’e ao Hiwa Halau Olapa ‘O Laka I Ka‘ana ‘O Puna.
A celebration of lifewill be held at a later date.
She is survived by spouse, Lawrence Obermann of Keaau; daughter, Donna (Todd) Savoy of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sisters, Peggy Jenkins of El Rancho, New Mexico, Helen Guerra of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two grandchildren; and numerous cousins.

Roy Tanimoto
Roy Masayoshi Tanimoto, 81, of Keaau, died July 9, 2022, at his residence. Born in Honolulu, he worked for Otis Elevator Company, Thyssenkrupp Elevator and retired as a state elevator inspector and was a member of the National Field Archery Association and Hawaii Island Archery Club.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. Aug. 13 at Puna Hongwanji Mission in Keaau for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by son, Roi Tanimoto of Keaau; brothers, Ray Tanimoto and Ross (Annette) Tanimoto of Honolulu; sister-in-law, Kayo Tanimoto of Nara, Japan; and nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
