Harriet Veneri

Harriet Roselani Veneri, 95, of Mountain View, died July 26, 2022, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Paia, Maui, and was a homemaker and a former member of the Star of the Sea Church in Honolulu.

Services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by son, John (Marianne) Veneri of Mountain View; daughters, Patricia (Bruce) Shimomoto of Aiea, Oahu, Glorianne (Joe) Garza of Volcano and Lisa Veneri of Honolulu; sister, Mary Ann Maiorino of Las Vegas; nine grandchildren; 14 great-0grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Takiko Chung

Takiko Chung, 99, of Hilo, died June 16, 2022, at the Hawaii Care Choice Pohai Malama Hospice Facility. Born in Pepeekeo, she was a retired seamstress for the former Kamehameha Garment Factory and Hilo Hatties.

Private services. Family request no flowers and no koden (memorial gifts).

She is survived by sons, Aaron (Anne) Chung and Michael (Hiromi) Chung, all of Hilo; sister, Takayo Yuen of Pearl City, Oahu; brother, Willis (Elaine) Nakaoka of Hilo; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joseph Albrecht

Joseph Albrecht, 69, of Hilo died July 25, 2022, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Vancouver, Wash., he was retired.

No services.

Robert DeMotta Jr.

Robert Stanley DeMotta Jr., 56, of Hilo, died July 12, 2022, at Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born Aug. 18, 1965, in Hilo, he was a mechanic for Alamo and Hertz rental car agencies in Hilo, and a youth coach with the Pop Warner Football Program.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo; funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Alae Cemetery in Hilo. Casual attire is requested.

He is survived by son, Mikala DeMotta of Hilo; daughter, Robi DeMotta of Hilo; brother, Jonathan DeMotta of Honolulu; sister, Roberta (John) Cuban of Mountain View; granddaughter, Grace DeMotta-Kuamo’o of Hilo; and numerous aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Robert Sayers

Robert William Sayers, 80, of Waimea, died June 23, 2022 at his family’s residence. Born Sept. 27, 1941, in Honolulu, he was co-owner of Sayers Brothers Trucking Co. in California, owned Sayers limousine Service, Inc., an appliance repairman, U.S. Army veteran and member of the VFW.

Services with military honors to be held at noon Aug. 12 at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona.

He is survived by daughter, Zena Nunez of California; sister, Debra (Charles) Kimokeo of Waimea; brother, Roy (June) Sayers of Arizona; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Russel Yanagawa

Russel Sadamu Yanagawa, 58, of Kailua-Kona, died July 15, 2022 in Kealakekua. He was born on July 8, 1964, in Hawaii.

Services have been held.

He is survived by parents Tom and Victoria of Kailua-Kona; sons Carter Yanagawa, Evan Yanagawa and Caleb Yanagawa, all of Lansdale, Pennsylvania; brother Jeffrey Yanagawa of Scottscale, Arizona; and extended family.
