Hugh Winn

Hugh Owen Winn, 80, of Kailua-Kona, died Aug. 6, 2022, at his residence. Born Nov. 17, 1941, in Oxnard, California, he was a retired general contractor and cabinet maker.

No services.

He is survived by wife, Ruth; daughters, Lisa (Rich) Youngs and Christine (David Huerta) Winn of Kailua-Kona.; sister, Bonnie Winn of San Diego; brother Frank (Kim) Winn of Rowland Heights, California; sister-in-law Nancy Winn of Santa Barbara, Californa; two grandsons; two step-grandsons; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elouise Mulec

Elouise “Elo” Kaleinani Kamanu Mulec, 69, of Hawaiian Paradise Park died July 9, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, she was an ag worker, caretaker, homemaker, member of Kalapana Maunakea Congregational Church and Big Island Senior Guard Club.

Visitation 9 to 11 a.m. Sept.3 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel; celebration of life at 11 a. m.

She is survived by husband, Frank J.; son, Frank K. of Hawaiian Paradise Park; daughters, Beth (Eric Tagalicod) Mulec of Wainaku, and Kaiulani (Lance) Kekahuna of Ainaloa; numerous hanai children; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandsons; brothers, Edward (Mary) Kamanu of Mokuhulu, and Stanley (Jeanne) Kamanu of Kaumana; sister, Gwen Kamanu of Mokuhulu; mother-in-law, Eunice Mulec of Keaau; and numerous aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews.

Gabriel De Silva Jr.

Gabriel De Silva Jr., 72, of Pahoa, died Aug. 21, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center. Born Oct. 26, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York, he was a retired school teacher. Celebration of His Life will be held at a later date He is survived by wife, Jamie Malakaua of Hawaii; children, Kaliel De Silva of New York, Haumea Malakaua-De Silva, Maria De Silva, Gabriel Malakaua-De Silva and Isaiah De Silva of Hawai; grandchild, Sophia Malakaua-De Silva of Hawaii; brothers, John Bonano, Joseph Bonano and David De Silva of New York; sisters, Sufia De Silva and Eleanor De Silva of New York; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Rodney Nishino

Rodney Tadaharu Nishino, 81, of Hilo, died Aug. 13, 2022, at his residence. Born Feb. 4, 1941, in Hilo, he was retired from both the Hawaii Electric Light Co. and Hawaii Air National Guard and member of Taishoji Soto Mission and Niigata Kenjinkai.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

He is survived by wife, Edith Nishino of Hilo; daughters, Tammy (Keith) Miyashiro of Aiea, Oahu, and Taryn (Richard Knox) Nishino of Fairbanks, Alaska; sister, Jean (Charles) Yoshimura of Honolulu; sisters-in-law, Ethel Nishino of Honolulu, and Sharon Nishino of California; and two grandchildren.
