Edward Doi

Edward Tadashi Doi, 92, of Keaukaha died Aug. 26, 2022 at home. Born on Oahu, he was retired from Pacific Island Flooring, Hilo Municipal Driving Range, and was a member of Wiki Wiki Golf Club and Police Golf Club.

A celebration of life will be held Sept. 17 at the Hilo Municipal Driving Range from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., with a service to follow at 6 p.m. Casual attire is requested.

He is survived by wife, Beverly Doi of Keaukaha; daughters, Sandy (Rodney) Lau of Waikoloa, Miriam Kanaeholo of Hilo, Randa-Lynn Kaupu of Hilo, and Reinette (Mel Kelekolio) Morgan of Kailua-Kona; sons, Leslie Doi of Oahu, Hiram Kawelu of Washington, and Robert (Lono Padilla) Kaupu IV of Oahu; sister, Elizabeth Kiyota of Palolo; brothers, George Doi of Manoa, Oahu and Robert Doi, Kenneth (Joan) Doi, and Douglas (Sandy) Doi, all of Pearl City, Oahu; sister-in-law, Miriam Doi of Kailua, Oahu; 17 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Felix Cornelio Jr.

Felix Alpetchi Cornelio Jr., 73, of Holualoa, died Aug. 29, 2022 in Kealakekua. Born Nov. 9, 1948, in Hawaii, he was a U.S. Army veteran and worked in food service at the resorts.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by daughter, Pamela (Stacy) Cornelio-Nakamoto of Captain Cook.

Ruth Galloway

Ruth Shinae Galloway, 94, of Hilo and formerly of Kalopa, died Sept. 8, 2022, at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Paauhau, she was retired from the former Holiday Mart in Honolulu.

Private service with inurnment at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl). Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

She is survived by son, Michael (Letty) Galloway of Hilo; daughter, Deborah (Donald) Thompson of San Jose, Calif.; sister, Beatrice Nakaoka of Honolulu; two grandchildren, Mark (Kuulei) Galloway and Nicholas (Lezli) Galloway; and four great-grandchildren.

Tsuruye Miyagi

Tsuruye “Sue” Miyagi, 89, of Hilo, died Aug. 21, 2022, at home. Born in Waimea, she was a retired community service worker for the County of Hawaii, Department of Parks and Recreation, Elderly Activities Division, Coordinated Services for the Elderly, and was also a member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and Hui Okinawa.

Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary donations).

She is survived by son, Jeffery (Michelle) Miyagi of Hilo; daughters, Laura (Jack) Mitchell of Longview, Texas, Suzanne (Jeff) Naval of Honolulu and Joni (Ian) Nagao of Hilo; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Josefina Godoy

Josefina “Josie” Garlet Godoy, 73, of Keaau, died Sept. 12, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born July 25, 1949, in Negros Oriental, Philippines, she was a member of the Hilo Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Visitation will be held on Sept. 25 at the Hilo Seventh-Day Adventist Church from 9 to 10 a.m.; celebration of life service will begin at 10 a.m. Casual attire is requested.

She is survived by husband, Roberto Godoy of Keaau; children, Jubylen (Dale) Teehee of Honolulu, Jocelyn (Inocentes) Fuerzas of the Philippines, Arnel Godoy of the Philippines, Jonel (Sarah Jane Visaya) Godoy of Keaau and Jeneva Godoy of Honolulu; sister, Wenlita (Joe) Burger of Iowa; five siblings in the Philippines; six grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Donna Anaya-Tostado

Donna Lee Anaya-Tostado, 71, of Pahoa died Sept. 5, 2022, at her residence. Born in California, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by son, Michael Folling of Hilo; daughter, Anaya Southard of Hilo; siblings, Susan Southard, Jack Southard and Todd Southard, all of California; one grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Saturnino Cablay Jr.

Saturnino “Junie” Macabio Cablay, Jr., 69, of Ocean View, died Sept. 3, 2022 in Kealakekua. Born April 12, 1953, in Honolulu, he worked as a carpenter and was a gardener.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by partner, Sally Smith; sister Esther Moffatt of Oahu; brothers, James (Kathryn Foster) Cablay of Ocean View, and Fred (Esther) Cablay of San Diego; hanai daughter, Shona Conley of Portland, Oregon; and many nieces, nephews and grandkids.
