KCCF seeks cupping competition entries

Submissions for the 2022 Kona Coffee Cultural Festival Cupping Competition Coffee are due by 4 p.m. Oct. 31. All coffee entered into the competition must be 100% Kona coffee grown in the district of Kona.

Kona coffee entered in the competition will be scored on the globally accepted and recognized Specialty Coffee Association cupping format using a 100-point scale and evaluated in a double-blind format in the Crown and Classic divisions. Pacific Coffee Research will once again oversee the prestigious Kona Coffee Cupping Competition.

The cupping competition will take place Nov. 4 through 7 at Pacific Coffee Research in their SCA and CQI-certified cupping lab, which is closed to the public. Cupping panel representatives of will be on-hand during when winners are announced at 4 p.m. Nov. 11 during the Kona Coffee Village event happening at Hale Halawai County Pavilion in these divisions: Kona Classic, Kona Heritage and Kona Crown.

Cost to enter the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival Cupping Competition is $100 per entry. Information can be found online and farmers may register at konacoffeefest.com.
