Norman Nishizaki

Norman “Ghost” Mitsuo Nishizaki, 79, of Pepeekeo died Aug. 25, 2022, at his residence. Born in South Hilo, he was a retired Realtor, former Eagle Scout, avid gardener, member of the Lincoln Wreckers Athletic Club and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Private services were held.

He is survived by sisters, Jean Lee of Laguna Niguel, California, Grace (Chiyo) Yanaga of Aiea, Dorothy (Baldwin) Akamine of Aiea, Florence Asato of Aiea, Milly Nishizaki of Hilo; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Fumio Nakamura

Fumio Nakamura, 99, of Hilo, died Oct. 1, 2022, at his residence. Born in Mountain View, he was a retired union carpenter, U.S. Army World War II 442nd Regimental Combat Team Battery A 522nd Field Artillery Battalion veteran and avid golfer.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

He is survived by daughter, Karen Nakamura of Hilo; sister-in-law, Katie Nakamura of Mililani, Oahu; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Craig Tomori

Craig Yoshito Tomori, 71, of Hilo, died Sept. 26, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Dec. 3, 1950, in Hilo, he was retired from KTA Super Stores and was a member of Honomu Henjoji Mission.

Private services were held.

He is survived by sisters, Meryl Farmer and Robin Tomori of Hilo; mother-in-law, Yasu Sugiyama of Hilo; sisters-in-law, Lillian (Melvin) Tamaye of Hilo, Elaine (Ronald) Tomita of Clayton, Calif., Trudy Sugiyama of Hilo, Frances Inouye of Renton, Wash.; an aunt; an uncle; andnumerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.

William Burke

William John Burke, 81, of Keaau, died Oct. 9, 2022. Born Nov. 20, 1940, in Michigan, he was a retired construction superintendent.

Private services were held.

He is survived by daughters, Donna Dennerlein, Elinor Swaynos, Jennifer Hill, and Billie Burke; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Jason Pacheco

Jason Kawika Pacheco, 51, of Hilo, died Oct. 7, 2022, at his residence. Born in Hilo, he was a carpenter, member of the Wainaku Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and a hunter and fisherman.

Private services were held.

He is survived by wife, Darlene Pacheco of Hilo; son, Dustin Jenette of Honolulu; daughters, Danielle (Rupert, Jr.) Gomez-Cabral and Jaslene X-enia (Clayton) Kanehailua of Hilo, Dionne (Bronson) DeRego of Honokaa; mother, Rose Pacheco of Ninole; brothers, Jonas Pacheco of Ninole and Joey (Merle) Pacheco of Hilo; 10 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
