I am writing to thank everyone involved with Daifukuji Soto Mission’s annual fundraiser. The online auction was a big success! We couldn’t have done it without the generous community donations, bidders, volunteers and supporters. A very sincere mahalo to all of you!
Daifukuji’s buildings are being painted this month. It’s because of your support, it will continue to be a well kept, beautiful historic Zen Buddhist temple. Inside and out.

Why do they fight doctors?
I don’t get it. The neighbor islands are having an on-going dearth of doctors, something DHS and the DOH recognize and realize. Every one says it’s because of the lack of making a sustainable living; so why does DHS continue to fight against Medicaid reimbursements for Dr. Nitta?
They should be supportive of his practice and the pittance of reimbursements he’s entitled to collect, instead of trying to punish him for the fact that he’s willing to continue serving the people of Hilo.
So much shibai!
