Star shines bright at Hoku Concert Series

Broadway star, Aléna Watters, comes directly from New York for three exclusive in-home concerts. The proceeds from the shows benefit West Hawaii Dance Theatre and Academy.

For three nights, Dec. 2, 3, and 4, at three different homes, Watters will entertain guests with songs from way back to modern day, including music from Buddy Holly, the Bee Gees, Cher and more.

“When we saw her perform in concert on the mainland, you could tell from the audience enthusiasm, that her high energy is contagious. She is what they call a ‘triple threat’ — professional actor, dancer, and singer. She has performed on Broadway, across the USA, and abroad with praises from the press,” said Frank Meyer, founder of the Hoku Concert Series now in its 20th year.

Tickets are available at whdt.org/hoku or by calling (808) 329-8876.

KVA announces December featured artists

The Kailua Village Artists Gallery’s featured artist for the month of December is fused glass artist Tamisha Lee, who has been working with glass for almost 20 years now. She started as a mosaic artist, dabbled in stained glass and then took a fused glass class at a local art school and fell in love.

For the past year, Lee’s main theme has been fish and sea creatures. Now flowers and botanicals are her new direction.

Lee will be working at the gallery Dec. 12, 16 and 30. The Kailua Village Artists Gallery is located in the Kona Marketplace. The gallery is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call (808) 329-6653 or visit www.kailuavillageartists.com.
