Brenda Ioane
Brenda Jo Ioane, age 65, of Hilo, died Oct. 3, 2022, in the Kapiolani Medical Center on the island of Oahu. Born in Hilo on June 2, 1957, she was employed at the Edward Jones office in Hilo as a senior branch office administrator and previously worked as an escrow officer at the Island Title Company and was the proprietor of Roselani Party Supply. Visitation will be held at Dodo Mortuary Chapelfrom 9 to 10 a.m. Dec. 18; celebration of life service will begin at 10 a.m. Casual attire is requested. She is survived by husband, Philip Ioane of Hilo; son, Joshua (T’ara) Akamu of Hilo; daughters, Roslyn Ioane of Hilo, Raelyn (Joseph Hanohano) Ioane of Hilo, Kristin Gomes-Orsatelli of Hilo and Kawehi (Marta Tsvetkova) Yung of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; mother, Clara Coit of Hilo; brother, Owen (Jodi) Coit of Hilo; sisters, Deborah (Patrick) Moniz of Hilo and Cindy (Darren) Naihe of Kona; 12 grandchildren, Kylih Ann, Kashtian, Kadedin, Kekoa, Kalih Rae, Kaynen, Aspen Taylor, Tayzlynn, Tay’ah Jay, Tayvin Duke, Kayzen and Kinzlih Bryn; numerous nieces, nephews and hanai children. Lillian Keli’ipio
Lillian Ku’ualoha Keli’ipio, 92, of Keaukaha, died Nov. 21, 2022, at Okano Care Home in Keaau. Born May 15, 1930, in Hilo, she was employed with the County of Hawaii as a recreational assistant, and a member of Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church, the Keaukaha Community Association and the Na Wahine O Kamehameha, Royal Order of Kamehameha I. A celebration of life will be held Dec. 14 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, viewing at 4 to 6 p.m.; wake service at 6 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Dec. 15 at Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church, Hilo; viewing from 9 to 10 a.m.; Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow immediately after at Homelani Memorial Park. She is survived by sons, Alexander (Sheryl) Keli’ipio of Kauai and Hiram (Christi) Keli’ipio Sr. of Keaukaha; hanai son, Joseph Poai III of Panaewa; brother, Stephen K. (Guyette) Calles Jr. of Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; uncle, David Calles Sr.; niece, Lilinoe Keli’ipio-Young, as well as other numerous uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. Robert Smith III
Robert Harvey Smith III, 78, of Kailua-Kona, died on June 3, 2022 at his residence. Born in Long Beach, California on April 24, 1944, he was the executive vice president of finance with the Multicare Good Samaritan Medical Center in Puyallup, Washington, member of the Kailua Bay Pier Group and a U.S. Navy veteran. A memorial service will be held at 9 a.m. Dec. 27 at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona; followed by a 1:30 p.m. paddle out and spreading of his ashes at the Kailua pier with the Kailua Pier Group. The family requests casual attire. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Smith of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Jennifer Smith and son, Brian (Brandy) Smith, all of Federal Way, Washington; three grandchildren.
