Jonna Mae Yoon, 81, of Fern Forest, Glenwood, died Oct. 17, 2022 at Pohai Malama Care Center in Hilo. Born Oct. 29, 1940, in Waterville, Maine, she was owner of Puna Tropical Buds and a 4th Dan Tae Kwon Do Instructor. No services. She is survived by husband, LaScott Kim Yoon. Megan McCaffrey

Megan Brigid McCaffrey, 76, of Kapaau, died Nov. 10, 2022 at home. Born in Los Angeles in 1946, she was a social worker at Queen’s Hospital, North Hawaii Community Hospital, North Hawaii Hospice, and Kohala Hospital. Private services. She is survived by brother, Patrick (Carol) McCaffreyof Rancho Mirage, California and two cousins. Arrangements by Homelani Cremation Services

Stephanie Francisco

Stephanie “Landa” Yolanda Francisco, 64, of Hilo, died Dec. 3, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a cook for various restaurants and member of Malama Ka Pili Pa’a. Celebration of Life at a later date. She is survived by children, Bridget (Keoki) Palacio of Hilo, Jensen (Krysti Soares) Sugiura of Hilo, Sharday (John) De Motta of Pepeekeo, Shaylyn (Christopher Evangelista) Sugiura of Hilo; siblings, Wendy Wisniewski of Hilo, Edward (Tracy) Bufil Jr. of Pepeekeo, Tanya (Todd) Pataray of Hilo; eight grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Thomas Struempf

Thomas Joseph Struempf, 79, of Kailua-Kona, died Dec. 2, 2022 at home. Born June 18, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri, he worked as a pipe fitter/welder. Private services will be held.He is survived by spouse Carolyn; sons David Struempf of Kailua-Kona; Daniel (Miriam) Struempf of Kailua-Kona; Michael (Renate) Struempf of Newport, North Carolina; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Takamari Fukunaga

Takamari “Taka” Fukunaga, 99, of Pahala, died Nov. 11, 2022 at K’au Hospital. Born in Napoopoo, Kona, on Sept. 15, 1923, he retired from Ka’u Agribusiness as a truck driver and was a member of the Pahala Hongwanji Buddhist Temple and Pahala Senior Center. Private services held. He is survived by sons, Alvin (Jackie) Fukunaga of Valencia, California and Allen Fukunaga of Canyon Country, California; daughter, Elaine Kamakura of Simi Valley, California; brothers, Yoshikage (Shino) Fukunaga of Honolulu, Suetaka (Vicki) Fukunaga of Kona, Shigeyuki Fukunaga of Kona and James Susumu (Ella) Fukunaga of Kona; sisters, Setsuko Toriano of Pahoa and Etsuko Sato of Honolulu; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Tsuyoshi Murakami

Tsuyoshi “Slug” Murakami, 93, of Hilo, died Nov. 18, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was the retired owner of the former Hilo Carpenter Shop Service and a member of Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission and Upper Kaumana Kumiai. Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts. He is survived by wife, Alice Murakami of Hilo; brother, Howard (Winifred) Murakami of Kailua, Oahu; sisters, May Higa of Hawaii Kai, Oahu, Taeko Perreira of Kapahulu, Oahu, Lillian (Rupert) Omonaka of Kaneohe, Oahu, Geraldine (Al) Arneson of Montana; numerous nieces and nephews.

William Greenwood

William “Buddy” Louis Greenwood, 75, of Honokaa, died Nov. 7, 2022 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Hamakua, on July 7, 1947, he was a maintenance supervisor for the federal government and a U.S. Air Force Vietnam War veteran. Annique Ha’aheo Tsuru Daquep, 21, of Honolulu died Oct. 16, 2022, on Oahu. Born in Hilo, she was a second grade teacher at Waikele Elementary School. Visitation from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Dec. 17 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel; a celebration of her life will begin at 10:30. Casual attire. Hiromi Horiuchi

Hiromi Howard Horiuchi, 81, of Keaau died Nov. 25, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Paia, Maui, he was a retired Forestry Supervisor for the State of Hawaii Department of Land &Natural Resources, avid hunter and fisherman, member of the Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. Dec. 17 at Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission; memorial service will begin at 10. Casual attire. He is survived by children, Derrick (Janel) Horiuchi of Mililani, Kyle (Crystal) Horiuchi of Washington, Karen Horiuchi of San Francisco; sister, Rachael (Peter) Guay of Honolulu; five grandchildren. Kiyome Yoshimatsu, 97, of Waimea, died Nov. 27, 2022, at home.
