Nexamp plans meeting for solar project

Nexamp, a community-based renewable energy (CBRE) developer and operator, is holding a public meeting on Jan. 26, 2023, to provide information about Naalehu Solar, a proposed shared solar project to be located south of Mamalahoa Highway in Naalehu.

The public informational meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. will include an explanation of CBRE and how it works, a project overview of Naalehu Solar, and time for questions and answers.

Naalehu Solar is designed to support Hawaii’s goal of being 100% renewable by 2045. The solar project will generate clean power and help lower electricity costs for qualified low- to moderate-income (LMI) subscribers. The project is part of Hawaiian Electric’s CBRE LMI shared solar program, meaning that community members who meet certain LMI income requirements are eligible to enroll and subscribe for credits to lower their electric bill.

All public comments and questions from this meeting will be filed with the Public Utilities Commission.
