Emma Simeon

Emma Gabriel Simeon, 83, of Keaau, died Dec. 24, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Buguey, Cagayan, Philippines, she was a retired elementary grade teacher in the Philippines, and a retired factory worker for the former Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut in Keaau. Funeral Mass/ celebration of life will be held on Jan. 5 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo, visitation from 8 to 9:30 a.m.; funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Burial at Homelani Memorial Park (Ilima Section). She is survived by husband, Florencio Bingayen Simeon of Keaau; children, Roy (Cynthia Guerra Marfal) Simeon of Ewa Beach, Gabriel (Reney Nagata) Simeon and Nolan (Joanne Guillermo) Simeon of Hilo, Allan (Ayrine Mangaoang) of Keaau, Jonn (Vangie Tagalicud) Simeon and Marites (Jen Talon) Simeon of Waipahu; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Earl Kanae

Earl Kainoa Kanae, 75, of Hilo, died Dec. 19, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center. Born April 25, 1947, in Hilo, he was a heavy equipment operator for Jas W Glover Company, a Bus Driver for Akita Enterprises and a member of the Makamaka’ola Motorcycle Club, Ke Kilo hana o ka Malamalame, American Legion, Executive Vice President of Seymour and Doolittle and a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by spouse, Bertha Kanae; sons, Earl II (Crystal), Frank (Jolena), Kody (Raynette); daughters, Sonya (Gregg), Nyla (Bernard), Tyra (Vernon), Leysha (Joe); brothers, Samuel Hoopai, David Hoopai; hanai brother, Richard Kahalewai; sisters, Eunice Kanae, Darlene Cabagbag, Evelyn U’i Victorino; hanai sister, Abby Kahalewai; in addition to 24 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and hanai children. Services will be held on Jan. 14, visitation at 9 a.m., service 10 a.m. at Ballard Family Mortuary. There will be a luncheon to follow at 441 Keonaona St, Hilo. Felicisima Kamei

Felicisima Dameg Kamei, 76, of Pahala, died Nov. 13, 2022 in Honolulu.mBorn on July 13, 1946, in Santa Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she was a retired macadamia nut hand-harvester for Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Corporation in Pahala. Celebration of Mass will be held on Jan. 7 at Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church, visitation from 8:30 to 10 a.m.; Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at the Church Cemetery. She is survived by husband, Raymond Kamei of Pahala; daughters, Leilani (Shane) Nomura of Pearl City and Cynthia (Gordon) Lee of Honolulu; three grandchildren, FErin Nomura, Ian Nomura and Tyler Lee; brother, Orlando (Veronica) Dameg of Keaau; step-brother, Edward (Maggie) Martinez of Pahala; step-sisters, Dolores (Chucky) Oliveira of Hilo and Loretta Naboa of Milolii; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
