Kona Brain Injury Support Group slates meeting

The Kona Brain Injury Support Group will meet at 4 p.m. via Zoom on Wednesday, Jan. 11.

Speaker Dr. Rose Evelyn Friedheim will will share her story about her traumatic brain injury and her journey to thriving as a psychologist with the support of her TBI community.

Putts, Paws &Pupus benefits HIHS

The community is invited to take part in Putts, Paws &Pupus, a giveback event benefiting the Hawaii Island Humane Society, Thursday, Jan. 12, at Kings Shops in Waikoloa Beach Resort.

The 4 to 8 p.m. event at the Kings Shops Putting Course will feature mini-golf, food, vendors and music. Tickets are $60, which includes mini golf, two drinks and more, and will be donated to the nonprofit animal welfare organization.

Additional donations of blankets, toys, unopened food, dog beds, and treats will be accepted at the event, according to host Emily Oberg of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Island Lifestyle. The organization, established in 1965, serves Hawaii Island’s community with shelters in Keaau and our new Animal Community Center in Kona.
