Stacey Bello on Thursday was appointed superintendent of the Ka‘u-Keaau-Pahoa complex area by the state Department

of Education.

Bello had been the interim superintendent of the complex area since May 2022.

Bello started her 25-year educational career as a student teacher in Keaau and went on to serve as a substitute teacher, special education teacher, district special education resource teacher and vice principal and principal of Keaukaha and Keaau elementary schools.

Bello earned her bachelor’s degree in liberal studies from the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
