Rosemary “Tootsie” Cabada, 84, of Mountain View, died Dec. 8, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center Friends may call on Jan. 28 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, visitation from 4 to 6 p.m.; memorial services at 6 p.m. She is survived by husband, Victor Cabada of Mountain View; daughter, Melissa (Brian) Amador of Pepeekeo; son, Wade (Robin) Amador of Mountain View; brother, Paul (Vera) Devera of La Mesa, California; sister in-law, Susan Maluo Devera of Hilo; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Gilbert Bartolome

Gilbert Tagalicud Bartolome, 52, of Pahoa, died Nov. 3, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center. Born May 7, 1970, in Hilo, he worked for a security company in Hawaii. Friends may call Jan. 28 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, visitation from 9 to 10:30 a.m.; funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire. Burial at Homelani Memorial Park (Ilima Section). He is survived by daughter, Jaymin Bartolome of Honokaa; mother, Estrella Bartolome of Pahoa; sister, Marylou Bartolome of Hilo and Elisa Manning of Pahrump, Nevada; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Mildred Morimoto

Mildred Mitsuko Morimoto, 93, of Kailua-Kona, died Sept. 3, 2022 at Nilda’s Care Home. Born in Kealakekua, Hawaii on April 25, 1929, she was a laundry technician for Shiraki Dry cleaners. She was a secretary for General Appliance and Furniture and the Gas Company. She was a member of Hanei Kumi and Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple. Private services were held. She is survived by her sons, Reg (Brenda) Morimoto of Kailua-Kona and Melvin (Edith) Morimoto of Captain Cook; brother, Edwin (Margie) Fujimoto of Captain Cook; three grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. James Hanano

James Nobuichi Hanano, 93, of Kapaau, Hawaii died on Dec. 26, 2022 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Kohala, Hawaii on July 14, 1929, he worked at Kohala Sugar Hawaii and retired from Hawaii Preparatory Academy. He was a scoutmaster for Boys Scouts of America and served in the Hawaii National Guard; and was a member of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church. He is survived by his sons, Jason (Stephanie) Hanano of Hawi and Keven (Cynthia) Hanano of Lihue, Kauai; daughter, Jennifer (John) Colson of Kapaau and Kaky (Geoy) Purdy of Kamuela; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews. Mildred Nakanishi

Mildred Tomiko Nakanishi, 100, of Hilo, passed away at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center on Dec. 23, 2022. Born in Kapoho, she retired from Spivey’s Hilo Airport Flower Shop and was a member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.

She is survived by brothers, Norman Nishiura of Honolulu, Hideo (Betty) Nishiura of Hilo; sisters, Takako Desaki of Honolulu, Sadako Aburamen of Hilo; sister in laws, Matsue Nishiura of Hilo, Gladys Nishiura of Hilo, in addition to nieces and nephews.

Private Service held. No flowers or koden.

Robert Lower

Robert Alan Lower, 72 of Mountain View, died Nov. 13, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center. Born Nov. 2, 1950, in California, he was a biological science technician for the USDA – Ag Research Service Pacific Basin Agricultural Research Center and a U.S. Army veteran. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. He is survived by wife, Maria Moreno of Mountain View; daughter, Maggie Lower; sisters, Kathy Todd and Sheryl Buncy; brother, Jim Lee; and five grandchildren. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Pastor Robert Noah Sr.

Pastor Robert Loio Noah Sr., 69, of Waimea, died Jan. 5, 2023 at his resident. He was a professional truck driver, CB Radio user. Private services. He is survived wife, Claudia Noah; children, Robert (Hilary) Noah Jr., Victoria (Brad) Kaono, Catherine (David) Noah, Jason (Shaunie) Noah; grandchildren, Courtney Noah and Mellissa Noah; sister, Kathleen Rapoza; brother, Steven Noah; 23 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Dolores Valmoja Cabutihan, 73, of Papaikou, died Oct. 22, 2022, at home. Born in Waialua, Oahu, she was a professional cake decorator and office assistant for the former Edsung Foodservice Co. Friends may call at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 7, 2023 at Mililani Mortuary-Waipio Mauka Chapel on Oahu for a 6:30 p.m. service. Friends may call again from 8:30 a.m. Feb. 8, 2023 at Mililani Mortuary-Waipio Mauka Chapel for a 9:30 a.m. service. Burial follows 11 a.m. at Mililani Memorial Park-Waipio. Nobuko Mimaki

Nobuko “Gere” Mimaki, 90, of Hilo, died Dec. 12, 2022, at Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation &Nursing Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired Waiakea Elementary School teacher and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Buddhist Women’s Association, Hawaii State Teachers Association-Retired and National Education Association. Friends may call at 10 a.m. Jan. 31 at Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, 398 Kilauea Ave. for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers. Arthur Lehman

Arthur Carl Lehman, 93, of Mountain View died Dec. 19, 2022 at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he was a retired automotive painter and detailer, a member of Aloha Independent Living and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Inurnment will take place at 9 a.m. Jan. 27 at the East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery #2. Casual attire. Gail Gesford

Gail Elaine Gesford, 68, of Pahala, died Dec. 17, 2022, at home. Born in Philadelphia, she was retired and a member of the Ocean View Church of Christ. Private services. Kenny Javar

Kenny Cortel Javar, 36, of Minot, North Dakota and formerly of Naalehu died Dec. 30, 2022 in Minot, North Dakota. Born in Pahala, he was the owner of H2O Images, a technician at Tires Plus in Minot, North Dakota and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Visitation will take place from 9:30–11 a.m. Jan. 28 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Naalehu; funeral Mass at 11. Burial to follow at the Naalehu Community Cemetery. Casual attire.
