Violet Ignacio

Violet Isabel (Castello) Ignacio, 97, of Hilo, died Dec. 31, 2022, in Hilo. Born in Papaaloa, she graduated from Laupahoehoe High School, had worked in the sugar plantation office, former organist for Saint Anthony Catholic Church-Papaaloa and Saint James Catholic Church-Ookala, a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Saint Joseph Catholic Church Aloha Choir, Kamana Senior Center and Na Lima Lele Ukulele Group. Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 26 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 9:30 a.m. funeral Mass. Graveside committal service follows at noon at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No.2 pavilion. Family requests casual attire be worn. She is survived by son, Lloyd (Paula) Ignacio; daughters, Naomi (Ron) Ringer and ZoeAnne (Larry) Bianchi; 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Lydia Anoba

Lydia Bucaycay Anoba, 70, of Hilo, died Jan. 8, 2023, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Baguio City, Philippines, she was a retired baker, homemaker and faithful member of the Wainaku Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Memorial service at a later date. She is survived by sons, Jeremy (Khelsie) Anoba and Joab (Melanie) Anoba, both of Hilo; siblings, Eduardo Ordonio, Rafael Ordonio, George Dulnuan and Josephine Ordonio, all of the Philippines; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
