Azucena Ha’o

Azucena Agbayani Ha’o, 81, of Hilo, died Jan. 11, 2023, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker and member of the Wainaku Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Visitation 1-3 p.m. Feb. 5 at Dodo Mortuary chapel; memorial service at 3 p.m. Casual attire; no flowers. She is survived by sons, Charles (Alma) Ha’o III and Chad (Stephanie) Ha’o of Hilo; daughter, Gina Ha’o of Hilo; brother, Dionicio (Lillian) Agbayani Jr. of Reno, Nev.; sister, Carlina Castro of Hilo; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tyrone Young

Tyrone Young, 83, of Kailua-Kona, died Nov. 23, 2022 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Hamakua on April 4, 1939, he was a musical entertainer, self-employed stone mason, food caterer and a member of the Hawaii Army National Guard. No services are planned. He is survived by daughters, Jessica (Graham) Williamson and Jennifer Finau, all of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Henry Young of Honolulu and Raymond (Shirley Bentley) Young of Kailua-Kona; 2 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Naomi Aiu

Naomi K. “Darling” Kawamoto Aiu, 83, of Honalo, died Jan. 8, 2023 at her residence. Born in Keauhou Bay on Sept. 29, 1939, she was a housewife, coffee farmer, deacon and member of Helani Congregational Church, Queen Kaahumanu Society and Ka Ulu Lauhala O Kona. Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Feb. 18 at Helani Congregational Church at 78-6551 Mamalahoa Hwy., Holualoa. Funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Kona Memorial Park in Holualoa. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome. She is survived by husband, Harry Aiu of Honalo; daughters, Pua (Chris) Mantz of Keaau, Roxanne (Scott) Miller of Alaska and Anna Mapu (Francis) Quitazol of Kula, Maui; hanai sons, Edward (Emily) Kawamoto of Kamuela, Darin (Mildred) Aiu of Kailua-Kona; brother, John Kawamoto of Keauhou Mauka; seven grandchildren. Ronald Carvalho

Ronald Russell Carvalho, 72, of Ocean View, died Jan. 4, 2023 at his family’s residence. Born in Honolulu on Dec. 30, 1950, he was the owner and operator of Ilima’s Taxi and Tours. He is survived by wife, Jewel Carvalho of Ocean View; daughters, Starlani (Tony Furuta) Manila of Ocean View, Regina Leorna of Kailua-Kona, Trixy Carvalho of Las Vegas, Helen Carvalho of Arkansas; sons, Harris (Sarah) Carvalho of Ocean View and Wilsam (Tracy) Keanaaina of Kahuku; brothers, Dennis Balgas of Hilo and Michael Mercado of Ocean View; sisters Annabelle (Candace Tassill) Sanchez of Kailua-Kona and Debra Mercado of Honolulu; 15 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Pearl Punahele

Pearl M. Punahele, 80, of Mountain View, died Jan. 14, 2023. Born Nov. 29, 1942 in Hawaii, she retired from Child Protective Services, State of Hawaii (Maui County) and was a member of Our Lord Jesus Christ Resurrection. She is survived by sons, Beaudyboy Kawehionamokumanu Kaleookaiwa Punahele Jr. (Kamai), Joseph Nahalauwowoalii Punahele (Kim), Godwyn Kealoha Pauole Punahele; daughters, Gil Punahele Goodhue (Gordon), Maggie Kealaiki (Wayne); sister, Mariya Marcellino; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins.
