Leonard DeCambra

Leonard “Lenny” Jordan DeCambra, 77, of Keaau, died Dec. 31, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 9, 1945 in Honokaa, he was a retired superintendent for Kulani Correctional Facility, a musician and enjoyed carpentry. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Feb. 9 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, Hilo; celebration of life at 10 a.m.; urn burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. Casual attire. He is survived by wife, Charlene DeCambra; son, Chet (Roxanne) DeCambra; daughter, Cher (Montgomery Mercado) DeCambra; step-son, Gerald (Trudy) Santiago; brother, Fentiman (Patsy) DeCambra; sister-in-law, Beverly DeCambra; six grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Cheryline Ono

Cheryline Ono, 70, of Kealakekua, died on Nov. 28, 2022 at St. Joseph Dignity Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. Born in Kealakekua on Sept. 21, 1952, she was a retired district supervisor at the Kona Department of Motor Vehicles, County of Hawaii, co-owner of Ono’s Towing and a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church and Akitsu Kumi. Visitation will be held at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 18 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Honaunau; eulogy at 9:30; Mass at 10 a.m. followed by lunch at 11 a.m. The family requests casual attire. She is survived by husband, Richard Ono of Kealakekua; daughter, Sarah (Dustin La Marco) Ono of Kealakekua; stepdaughter, Rachelle (Jason) Jinbo of Hilo; stepson, Daryl (Shelly) Ono of Mountain View; sisters, Geraldine Magallanes and Pearline (Leonard) Yamada, all of Las Vegas; brothers, Henry Cordeiro, Jr. of Kalaoa, Kona and Gordon Cordeiro of Nome, AK.; 3 grandchildren; several step grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Shigeo Sasahara

Shigeo Sasahara, 95, of Hilo died Dec. 19, 2022 at a private Care home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired property disposal manager for the Department of Defense in Okinawa, Japan and Oahu and a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. Private services held. Family requests no flowers and koden (monetary gifts). He is survived by wife, Joyce Sasahara of Hilo; daughter, Doris (Guy) Brannum of Hilo; brothers, Sueji (Nancy) Sasahara of Gardena, California, Ronald (Nona) Sasahara of Hilo, Allan (Sharon) Sasahara of Hilo, Mamoru Sasahara of Kaneohe, Terry (Jane) Sasahara of Lihue; sister, Yukie (George) Nishihara of Honolulu; sister-in-law, Katherine Udo of Hilo; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Laine Ishikuro

Laine Tetsuo Ishikuro, 68, of Honokaa, died Dec. 19, 2022, at home. He was born in Honokaa and was a retired mechanic with the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel Golf Course and was also a member of King’s Chapel Honokaa. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Feb. 11 at the King’s Chapel Honokaa. Memorial service at 10 a.m. Casual attire; no flowers. He is survived by wife, Barbara Ann Ishikuro of Honokaa; daughters, Monica (James) Beach of Seattle and Shanell (Reginald) Esquera of Washington; sons, Tyler (Olivia) Ishikuro and Taylor (Kayla) Ishikuro of Washington; father, Bob Ishikuro of Honokaa; sister, Lynn (Dickie) Richards of Honokaa; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
