KEAAU — Konawaena High School’s varsity baseball team dominated Keaau High School 18-1 in a four-inning afair on Friday afternoon.
The Wildcats came out hard with six runs in the top first, shutting out the Cougars in the bottom frame.
Konawaena put up seven more runs in the next inning, when Keaau eked out its only score to stay in the game.
With two runs in the third and three in the fourth for the Wildcats, the game was called.
Jaiden Meyers led Konawaena at bat, going three-for-three with three runs and three RBI. Maika Akamu went two-for-two, batting in two.
Konawaena put up impressive slugging stats, with doubles hit by Charlie Kuwada, Keale Blas, Taven Hiraishi and Tate Garana. The Wildcats stole a total of thirteen bases, led by Meyers and Trez Uemoto with three each.
Koa Nakagawa pitched three innings to earn the win — fanning six of 13 batters faced and walking one while alowing just two hits and no earned runs.
Alapeti Tanoa led the Cougars in the box, going one-for two with a RBI.
With just two regular season games remaining, Keaau will chase a win during its final home game Thursday against Pahoa High School.
Konawaena’s next outing will be announced in the release of the next BIIF weekly schedule.
