Music competition to perform live with the Hawai’i Symphony Orchestra at the Waikiki Shell- Application deadline – May 1st, 2023

Hawai‘i Symphony Orchestra is proud to announce the return of Na Hoku ‘Opio “Young Stars” for the Summer of 2023. The 2023 competition will feature locally trained, young musicians of Hawai‘i – showcasing the abundance of talent being cultivated in our community. There will be multiple winners selected to perform live with your Hawai’i Symphony Orchestra at the Waikiki Shell. The competition is open to strings, voice, piano, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. Kona Brain Injury Support Group meeting

The Kona Brain Injury Support Group will be meeting on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 4 pm HST. Our speaker is Dr. Amy Kemp PhD, CCC-SLP, Poly trauma Fellow, Department of Veterans Affairs.Title: Learning in Older Adults with Traumatic Brain Injury: A Research Study. Dr. Kemp will share information on an ongoing online study that is considering how older adults learn and use health education materials, such as fall prevention education. This study is specifically looking for older adults with a history of concussion or traumatic brain injury. We will discuss some current findings as well as provide information how to participate if interested. You will be compensated up to $100 for your participation.
