Katherine Hanson

Katherine Marie Hanson, 78 of Mt. View, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2023 in Hilo; she was born on January 4, 1945 in Honolulu. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in California, she later completed her Master Degree in Psychology. Kathy and her husband Chuck Hanson, relocated to Hawaii and called Mt. View their home for past 34 plus years. She committed her life and spare time to nuture many children at St. Joseph Catholic School, Boys and Girls Club and Mt. View Elementery. Playing tennis was her passion. She is survived by husband, Charles W. Hanson of Mt. View, children, Jerry K. Schweitzer of California and Monique K. Schweitzer of Kailua, Hawaii; three grandchildren, Kawelo Schweitzer-Kapiko of Germany, Lau’ae Schweitzer and Kekoa Schweitzer of California; siblings, Lauren B. Rodrigues and Barney Lindberg of Hilo and Erich P. Lindberg of California; Numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Scattering of her ashes will be in Pauoa Valley on O’ahu (Immediate family only) to join her beloved parents. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary, Inc.

Michael Andrade

Michael Marvin Andrade, Sr., age 60, of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, died April 14, 2023 at the Kona Community Hospital. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on September 11, 1962 and was the Shop Manager at Harner Wall Systems. A memorial service will be held at a later date. On-line condolences at www.dodomortuary.com. He is survived by children, Chauncey (Charles) Hallford of Buckeye, Arizona, Michael (Saxon) Andrade of Kealakekua, Kona and Kawahinealoha Andrade of Kealakekua, Kona; mother, Kathleen Elizabeth Andrade of Kealakekua, Kona; brother, Darryl (Ivy) Andrade, Jr. of Mountain View, Hawaii; sister, Debra Andrade of Kaneohe; eight grandchildren; numerous cousins and extended family members. Celso Agbayani

Celso Dela Cruz Agbayani, Sr., 98 of Pepeekeo, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center of Hilo, born on February 22, 1925, in Waipahu; He was a retired Sugar Processing Plant Operator for the former Hilo Coast Processing Sugar Company in Pepeekeo. He also was a member of the First Assembly of God in Pepeekeo. Melvin Lehman

Melvin Edwin Lehman of Hawaii, passed away on May 6, 2023, in Hilo, born in Walla Walla, Washington; he grew up on a farm in Dayton, Oregon and attended Oregon State College (New Oregon State University). Where he met his wife, Sharon Walruff, they married in 1957. After graduating college, Melvin served in the US Navy, as Lt Commander, Submariners. One of the many places Melvin was stationed was Pearl Harbor, on Oahu, Hawaii. They later moved to their oceanfront property in O’okala, Hawaii, where Melvin continued farming limes and nursey stock until his death. A Celebration of His Life will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Mel and Sharon Lehman’s home in Ookala Preceded in death, son, Spencer Lehman. He is survived wife, Sharon Lehman of Hawaii; sons, Stanley (Sherri) Lehman of Vanuatu and Sheldon (Joy) Lehman of Pahoa; daughters, Lani (Barry) Stanturs of McMinnville, Oregon, Crystal McGrath of Kurtistown and Debra Lehman of Salt Lake City, Utah; brother, Russell Sherman Lehman of Kensington, California; sister, Joanne Hardy of Brunswick, Maine; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; Hanai family, foster children and friends. Lawrence Jones

Lawrence “Larry” B. Jones Jr., 84, of Naalehu, died May 7, 2023 at home. Born in West Virginia, he served in the Air Force, worked for South Point Tracking Station and retired from the C. Brewer Sugar Plantation in Ka’u. Friends may call at 8 a.m. June 10, 2023 at Naalehu Sacred Heart Catholic Church for a 9:30 a.m. eulogy and 10 a.m. Mass. He is survived by wife, Anna Jones of Naalehu; sons, Douglas (Linda) Jones of California and Bradley Jones of Naalehu; sister, Nancy (Bob) Stackman of Florida; nieces and nephews.
