Sadako Iyo, 91, of Hilo, passed away on February 15, 2023. Born April 3, 1931 in Captain Cook, HI, she retired as a Senior Cashier from Food Fair Supermarket and was a member of Hawaii Ballroom Dance. She is survived by sons, Myles Iyo, Dennis Iyo; daughters, Joycelyn Iyo, Christine (Jason) Gushiken; brothers, Llyod Hiraoka, Isami Hiraoka; sisters, Yukiko H. Sewake, Yuriko H. Craig Andres, 47, of Hilo, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Hilo Medical Center, born on November 12, 1975, Hilo; he was Building Maintenance Worker for the Hawaii Community College. Edward Medeiros, 91, of Keauhou Mauka, Hawaii died April 26, 2023 at his residence. Born in South Kona, Hawaii on August 11, 1931, he was a retired forklift leaderman for Young Brothers, Ltd., a coffee farmer, deep sea fisherman and cattle rancher. Friends may call Friday, July 7, 2023 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. wake service and fellowship at Honaunau Rodeo Arena at 84-5119 Keala O Keawe Rd. Friends may call again at 7:30 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Honauanu Rodeo Arena; funeral service, celebration of life presentation, and luncheon will begin at 9:30 a.m. A drive through the Honaunau boat ramp will start at 2 p.m. and burial to follow at Kona Memorial Park. Judith Bond
Judith “Judi” Kay Bond, 71 of Kailua Kona, Hawaii died May 13, 2023 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Born in Pennsylvania on July 16, 1951, she served as administrator of the Counseling and Health Care building on the campus of the University of Nations (YWAM) in Kona, Hawaii and was a member of the Kona Coast Chaplaincy. She is survived by cousins, Sheila and Ray Livingston of Georgia and others on mainland USA. Rhoda Setsuko Sumiki, age 76, of Honolulu, Hawaii (formerly of Papaikou, Hawaii) died May 19, 2023 in the Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. She was born in Hilo, Hawaii on September 1, 1946 and retired as a Loan Officer from the Board of Water Supply Federal Credit Union. She also previously worked at the former HT&T Federal Credit Union in Hilo, Hawaii. Visitation will be held on June 14, 2023 (Wednesday) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo, Hawaii from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.; funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Cremation will follow. Born in Molokai, Hawaii on June 2, 1942, she was a retired teacher at Konawaena High School, and a member of Kona Music Society and served at Solid Rock Ministries in Kona. She is survived by her son, Roger Leo Salinas of Kawaihae; daughters, Jaymayne (Coleson Castillo) Salinas of Waimea, and Joy (Mervin, Jr.) Hanato of Kailua-Kona; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
