Nine BIIF softball players were named to ScoringLive’s DII All-Hawaii lists, as announced this past weekend.

Though no BIIF players were named on the first team, three Kamehameha Schools – Hawaii players made the second team — Emily Hora, Kahiwaleinaniokealoha Ili and Napualaiku Ho.

Hora had a strong season in the circle, as well as an impressive postseason. She completed the state tournament with a 4.00 ERA, the No. 4 best in DII. Hora pitched two full games in the BIIF Championship against Honoka‘a, surrendering just two earned runs and three walks throughout the 12 innings. During KSH’s first-round state playoff victory against Aiea, she also pitched all seven innings, striking out five and surrendering two earned runs on three hits and three walks.

Ili was the Warriors’ top slugger and a dependable shortstop. Against Aiea at state, she doubled on two of her three at-bats. In game two of BIIF finals, she hit three doubles to bat in three runs. During a BIIF semifinal game against Konawaena, she went four-for-four with a walk, hit a homer, scored five runs and batted in nine. Ili was also named to the HHSAA DII all-tournament team.

Ho was a threat at the plate, in the outfield and on the bases. She stole at least one base per game to lead KSH. During a regular-season victory against Ka‘u, she scored a season high of three runs.

KSH’s Rebekah Sipinga and Rhian Ogawa received All-Hawaii honorable mentions. Alongside Ili, Ogawa led the Warriors in the box against Aiea, going two-for-three with a RBI. During the BIIF finals, Sipinga went three-for-three with a walk to score three runs.

Honoka‘a’s Sunny Akau and Kailana Kanekoa received honorable mentions as a utility player and infielder, respectively. Kanekoa led the Dragons at bat in the BIIF finals, going two-for-three in game two. Honoka‘a went 1-2 at the state tourney, beating Waialua 15-13 in the first round before falling twice to Nankuli and Kapaa.

Kohala also received two honorable mentions — Kailani Valenzuela-Conte and Lluiva Cornejo. The Cowgirls fell 12-1 to Kapaa in the first round of state before defeating Waialua 11-7 to advance to the ninth-place consolation match — where they lost 4-1 to Damien. Cornejo led Kohala at bat against Damien, hitting a double and going two-for-three.
