James Torigoe

James “Jimmy” Hisato Torigoe, 84, of Keaau died Feb. 11, 2021 at the Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Hospice Facility. Born in Keaau, he was a retired equipment installer for the former Hawaiian Telephone Company, member of the Puna Hongwanji Mission, Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission, Keaau Village Community Association and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Due to the past Covid-19 restrictions, services were postponed until September of this year. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Tuesday (September 5, 2023) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel; memorial service at 11. Casual attire. Survived by brother, Franklin (Shirley) Torigoe; nephews, Peter (Abbie) Torigoe and Kevin (Becky) Torigoe; niece, Karyn Torigoe; grandnieces, Kayleigh Saunders and Brie Saunders; brother-in-law, Wallace Ohta; numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by Parents, Yoshito and Shizuko Torigoe, brother, Herbert Torigoe and sister, Mae Ohta. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Stanley Lorenzo

Stanley Richardson Lorenzo, Jr., 67, of Pahala died June 15 at the Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Pahala and was formerly in the US Army National Guard, worked for many years for Ka’u Sugar and then retired as a Heavy Equipment Operator/Truck Driver with the County of Hawaii and was also a self-employed cattle rancher. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 2) at the Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Memorial mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Survived by brothers, Frank (Mahina) Lorenzo, Sr. and William (Angie Kawewehi) Lorenzo of Pahala; sister, Lenora (Ernest Oleyte) Lorenzo of Pahala; companion, Elvainney Pascubillo of Pahala; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Toyoko Urada

Toyoko Urada, 88, of Captain Cook, Hawaii, died June 20, 2023 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Born in Honaunau, Hawaii on September 11, 1934, she was a cafeteria helper at Konawaena School and a member of Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple. Private services were held. She is survived by her sons, Ricky Urada of Holualoa and Scot (Celia) Urada of Mililani, Oahu; sister, Satsuye Tanaka of Honolulu; 3 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Teruyo Yanagisawa

Teruyo “Terry” Yanagisawa, age 91, of Hilo, Hawaii, passed away on July 5, 2023. She was born in Onomea, Hawaii and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Hilo, Hawaii. Private services held. No flowers. No Koden (monetary offerings). She is survived by hanai Daughter, Erin (David) Sekino-Yanagisawa; hanai sons, Kyle Yanagisawa and Dean Yanagisawa; sister, Dorothy “Dot” Yanagisawa; brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws; numerous nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces and hanai grandchildren. Sally Lee

Sally Tatsuko Lee, 87, of Hilo, died July 8 at the Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. She was born in Koloa, Kauai, and was a retired registered nurse with Kuakini Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente Medical Center and Hilo Medical Center and was also an active and long-standing member of New Hope Church Hilo. Celebration of life 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 2) at New Hope Church, Hilo. James Ishiki

James Ishiki, 89, of Kukuihaele died July 15 at his home. Born in Hakalau, he was an electrical contractor and owner of the former Ishiki Electric, supervisor and seed cutter at the former Hamakua Sugar Company and a member of the Kalopa Hawaii Pidgin Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Visitation from 2-3 p.m. Saturday (September 2, 2023) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel; memorial service at 3. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Satornina “Nina” Ishiki of Kukuihaele; daughter, Ruth (Corey) Funai of Oahu; son, Jamie (Esther) Ishiki of Honokaa; sister, Peggy Taira of Oahu; numerous nieces and nephews.
