Rocco Banta, Sr.

Rocco Fred Banta, Sr., 53, of Hilo, died June 16 at the Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Honolulu and was a construction laborer. Services 9-11 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 9) at the Ohana Church, 1967 Kinoole St, Hilo. A beach cruise will follow after, followed by lunch. Survived by companion, Sophia Pacheco of Hilo; sons, Rocco Banta, Jr. and Rockne Banta of Honolulu, Kyzer Rae Paglinawan of Hilo; daughters, Kayla Rae (Makana Keana’aina) Paglinawan and Kysha Rae (Jorge Perez, Jr.) Paglinawan of Kona, Kyla Rae Paglinawan of Honolulu; one granddaughter, Solana Perez. Lauriette Fields

Lauriette Kamakakilo Fields, 89, of Keaau died Aug. 11 at a private care home in Keaau. Born in Honolulu, she was a bartendress. Private services. Survived by son, Frank (Haroldeen) Quintal of Kurtistown; two grandchildren, one great-grandson. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Rosemarie Walker

Rosemarie Switalski Walker, 81, of Hakalau, died Aug. 15 at home. She was born in Pittsburg, Pa. and was a cosmetic sales representative for several leading cosmetic lines and was also an active member of the Christ Lutheran Church of Hilo. Private services will be held. Survived by sons, Jack A. (Suzanne) Walker of Auburn, Ala. and Dr. Chad R. (Dr. Jennifer) Walker of Hakalau; daughter-in-law, Patricia Cummings of Woodstock, Ga.; Sister, Francis Earnest of Tampa, Fla.; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Tom Takeya

Tom Kazuharu Takeya, age 90, of Hilo, Hawaii, passed away on August 16, 2023 at home. He was born in Hakalau, Hawaii on October 9, 1932 and retired as the Service Department Supervisor from the former Pacific Rent-All Company in Hilo. He was a United States Air Force Veteran. Private services held. No flowers. No Koden (monetary offerings). He is survived by wife, Sandra Takeya of Hilo; son, Norman (Denise) Takeya of Mililani; brothers, Teruo Takeya of San Francisco, California and Herbert Takeya of Kauai; sisters, Gale Takeya of Hilo and Myrtle Hara of Hilo; hanai daughters, Ceries Parmentier of Pennsylvania and Lori Parmentier of Arizona; one granddaughter; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Dylan Gomes

Dylan Frank Ka’awalani Gomes, 33, of Waikoloa, Hawai‘i passed away on August 18, 2023 in Waikoloa. He was born on July 16, 1990, in Hilo, Hawai’i. Dylan worked as a chef in food service.He is survived by father George (Shaughna Wate) Gomes Jr. of Captain Cook, Hawai’i; brother Adam Gomes of Kihei, Maui; sisters Monique (Vincent Garcia) Gomes of Carrizo Springs, Texas; and Michelle (Brandon Hoopai) Gomes of Big Horn, Montana. He is preceeded in death by his mother, Blossom Puanani Solomon Gomes. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Annuciation Catholic Church in Waimea, Hawaii on Saturday, September 2, 2023 with family visitation at 9:00 and mass at 10:00. Lily Pa

Lily K. Pa, 84, of Hilo, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Hilo Medical Center, born on November 17, 1938, in Hilo; she wss a secretary for the Hawaii State Government and member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Homelani Memorial Park (Lehua Section) at 11 a.m. She is survived by brothers, Samuel K. Pa, Jr. and Jacob Pa of Hilo, Franklin Pa of Oahu; numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary
