Berlinda Anita Toson, 73, of Paauilo died Nov. 10 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Laupahoehoe, she was a retired senior cashier of KTA Super Stores in Waimea and member of St. Columbus Episcopal Church in Paauilo. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Graveside committal service to follow at Kukaiau Cemetery. Casual attire. Survived by son, Desmond (Jonelle Balucan) Toson of Paauilo; daughters, Monica Funaki of Paauilo, Deseri (Charlie Aniol) Toson of Hilo and Marcia (Pale) Sipinga of Keaau; brother, Abraham Agustin of Paauilo; sisters, Mabel Pai of Kona and Florence Gacayan of Hilo; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Agustin of Paauilo and Irene Agustin of Kona; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Gay Lani Spencer

Gay Lani Spencer, 81, of Kailua-Kona died Oct. 18 at the Regency at Hualalai. Born in Honolulu, he was a ramp agent for Hawaiian Airlines, Hawaii National Guard veteran and member of Christ Church Episcopal and Church of the Nazarene. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Christ Church Episcopal in Kealakekua. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Inurnment committal to follow. Casual attire; no flowers. Survived by brother, Guy (Pauline) Spencer of Hilo; sisters, Diane (Donald) Kockelman of Mililani, Oahu, and Nukilani Baker of Waialua, Oahu; hanai brother, Swope Conn of Kailua-Kona; an aunt, cousins, nieces and nephews. W. Joyce Johnson

W. Joyce Johnson, age 89, of Kailua-Kona, died on Nov. 17. Born in Lamar, Colo., she was a home economics teacher, avid traveler, volunteer at many non-profits including Habitat For Humanity, Salvation Army and the Nature Conservancy, and also enjoyed sewing, especially quilts. A private spreading of ashes and celebration of life has been held.

Darrell Lopez

Darrell J. Lopez, 62, of Kailua-Kona died Sept. 20 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Wahiawa, Oahu, he was a vegetable stocker at Sack ’N Save and dishwasher at The Fish Hopper-Kona. Private services at a later date. Survived by daughter, Kristy (Bradly) Young of Naalehu; sons, Justin (Irene) Barido of Ocean View, Brody (Celeste) Halena of Honaunau and Darrell (Lita) Lopez of Milolii; sisters, Yolanda (Dan) Cantore of Maui, Marie (Jade) Chinen of Kailua-Kona, Gwendolyn Gardner of Arizona, Valerie (Sean) Ingram of Kailua-Kona and Audrey Lopez of Alaska; brothers, Domingo Lopez Jr. of Oahu and James (Debbie) Lopez of Michigan; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Blossom Pua‘ala Akao Thompson, 73, of Kailua-Kona died Oct. 22 at home. Born in Kealakekua, she was co-owner/operator of a McDonald’s franchise in Manoa Valley, Oahu, and member of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Family visitation 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Kona Imin Center in Holualoa. Celebration of life memorial service at 11 a.m. Lunch to follow. Haruko Mitchell, 86, of Kapaau died Oct. 20 in Kapaau. Born in Mahukona, she was a retired nursery worker for Kohala Nursery, laborer for the former Kohala Sugar Co. and member of Kohala Senior Citizen Club and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kohala Ward. JoAnn Sumire Tanibe, 68, of Kailua-Kona died Nov. 2 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, she was the owner of Banyan Mart. Services at a later date. Vincent “Vince” “Vicente” Abraham Jr., 79, of Hilo died Nov. 12 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Wailuku Maui, he worked for Ken’s House of Pancakes in Hilo and was a U.S. Army veteran.
