The Vikings crushed the visiting Cougars for their fourth straight shutout, in BIIF DI action on Monday afternoon at the UH-Hilo soccer field.

La‘aulu Kalauoka‘ae‘a-Kahele and Naliipoaimoku Harman led the Vikings’ offense with two goals apiece.

Five other Vikings were able to each score a goal — Titahni Ruano-Parada-Ka’awaloa, Kassawndra Hamilton, Teiya Santiago Caroline Hauanio and Sharlette Chartrand.

Goalkeepers Ryan Aniu and Leillian Solomon Ho‘opai combined to post the shutout.

Hilo’s girls team (4-0 BIIF) will rematch Kea‘au (0-3) at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Cougars’ home field

HILO BOYS 5, KEA‘AU 0

Hilo’s boys squad also surrendered no goals on its home turf, blanking the Cougars to close out the second half of Tuesday’s double-header.

Channing Oda led the way for the Vikings with two goals. Bubba Ferrari and Kani Tolentino-Perry also each scored for Hilo.

The Hilo boys’ next pitch appearance will be Monday (Dec. 18) when both Viking teams play in a double-header against Kamehameha Schools – Hawai‘i. The girls’ game is slated for 2 p.m. and the boys at 4 p.m.

Kea‘au (1-1-1) will be off until after the new year, Jan. 5, when the Cougars will travel across Kea‘au Village to face KSH in a double-header.

KSH GIRLS 9, HONOKA‘A 1

Despite surrendering their first goal of the season, the Warriors stomped the Dragons and remained undefeated in BIIF play on Tuesday at KSH.

The Warriors showcased their range, notching three goals from further than 70 feet away from the goal.

Rhacelyn Respicio notched a hat trick to lead KSH, trailed by Madisyn Meyers’ two goals — one of which was the outing’s longest, at 78 feet.

Rebekah Sipinga, Sanoe Quintana, Teija Moses and Elizabeth ‘Anela’ Reyes also each scored a goal for the Warriors.

Honoka‘a’s lone goal was scored by Elisa Nakano from 68 feet.

KSH’s next outing is the Monday double-header against Hilo.

The Dragons’ girls squad (0-2) will not be back in action until Dec. 23, when both Honoka‘a teams play an away double-header at Kealakehe High.

KSH BOYS 10, HONOKA‘A 1

Honoka‘a struck first as Caine Howard knocked in an early goal, but the Warriors flipped the match on its head with ten unanswered goals.

The trio of Lucas Kay-Wong, William Henderson and Kanoa Honda all each recorded hat tricks — with Kay-Wong scoring the match’s longest goal, from 76 feet.

Thurston Laa also contributed a goal for KSH.

The reigning DII state champions are now off to a 3-0 start. Howard’s goal was the first scored on the Warriors so far this season. In those three games, KSH has averaged 8.67 goals.

Both Warriors teams’ next outings will be the Monday double-header against Hilo.

Honoka‘a (0-1-2) will pursue its first win at 3 p.m. on Friday against Makua Lani Christian at the Old Kona Airport.
