Lourisla Kauanoe

Lourisla Kauanoe, 69, of Kapaau died Jan. 11 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. She was born in Honolulu. Visitation 9:30-10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at Kalahikiola Church. Services 10-11:30 a.m. Casual attire. Survived by husband, Allen P. Lawrence John Balberde

Lawrence John Balberde, 85, of Hilo, died Jan. 11. Born in Pepeekeo, he was a retired Hawaii County firefighter and a diesel mechanic. Wake to be held from 5-8 p.m. Feb. 7 at Ballard Family Mortuary in Hilo, with service at 6 p.m. Visitation to be held 8-9 a.m. Feb. 8 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with eulogy at 9 a.m. and Mass at 9:30 a.m. Survived by wife Vivian A. William “Billy” Kaleionehu Ma‘e

William “Billy” Kaleionehu Ma‘e, 90, of Keaau, died Dec. 1 at home. Born in Papaaloa, he served in the Hawaii Army National Guard for 25 years and worked for Jas. W. Glover, Ltd. Services held. Survived by wife Johanna P. Shizuko Machida, 95, of Hilo, died Nov. 11 at a private care home. Born in Seattle, she was the secretary and treasurer of the former Machida, Inc., and a member of the Hilo Meishoin Mission Kyodan. Suzuyo “Sue” Nakamura, 94, of Hilo, died Dec. 10 in Hilo. Born in Hilo, she was an insurance underwriter for the former Continental Insurance Group and a member of the Higashi Hongwanji Fujinkai.
