Catalina “Marcy” Cabasa

Catalina “Marcy” Cabasa, 85, of Hilo died Jan. 23, at Straub Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in the Philippines, she was a social worker for the state and devout member of The Church of God in Hilo. Visitation 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 7, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Committal service noon at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 Pavilion. Burial to follow. Survived by daughter, Joy (Van) Reyes of Hilo; sons, Joe (Michelle) Cabasa of Keaau and Chris (Brandy) Cabasa of Aiea, Oahu; hanai daughter, Sandra Cordeiro of Kalapana; sister-in-law, Josephina Cabanas of Kailua-Kona; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mercilies “Mercy” Priego Viernes

Mercilies “Mercy” Priego Viernes, 88, of Keaau died Jan. 22 at home. Born in Hilo, she was an accountant for Spud’s and Young Laundry Dry Cleaners, assistant Chef for Waimea Falls Park and past member of Hawaii Ballroom Dancing Association, East Hawaii Chapter. Visitation 2-3 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial services at 3 p.m. Survived by daughters, Melinda (Augie) Dias, Joreen (Belden) Dulan, Maejean “Tita” Viernes, Joselynn (Bob) Krause and Mia (Jim) Dorr; five grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; hanai grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Orlando Ildefonso Laurente Dameg

Orlando Ildefonso Laurente Dameg, 80, of Keaau, died Jan. 29 at home. Born in Santa, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was a juice processor for the former Ka‘u Agribusiness. Veronica Claire Koizumi, 80, of Hilo, formerly of Honolulu, died Feb. 3 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, she was the retired owner of the former Hale Inu Sports Bar and had worked at the former Green Door. No services.
