Born in Hilo, he was a retired sergeant for the Hawaii County Police Department, was previously a Honolulu Police Department officer and member of Keaukaha Ward of Yhe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Pana‘ewa Hawaiian Homes Association, ‘Ukulele Mo Fun of Hilo and former member of Hilo Junior Golf Association.
