Police arrested 14 drivers for suspected drunken driving between Jan. 28 and Monday; one was involved in a traffic accident and one was younger than 21.

Police have made 99 suspected DUI arrests this year compared with 118 during the same period in 2012, according to the Hawaii Police Department.

Kona officers arrested nine motorists, South Hilo officers arrested four and Puna officers one, according to police.

There have been 102 major accidents this year compared with 126 during the same period in 2012. To date, there have been seven traffic fatalities on the Big Island compared with none at this time in 2012.
