“Ahupuaa” by Hawaiian artist Kira Kamamalu will be displayed today through March 21 at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel in conjunction with Rumley Gallery. The large-scale, 11-by-7-foot painting depicts the ancient Hawaiian land system and its sustainable culture. Kamamalu recently exhibited in Italy at the Florence Biennale. This work was inspired by her visit to Michelangelo’s frescos in the Sistine Chapel. Special to West Hawaii Today
