No tsunami was triggered by a magnitude-7.8 earthquake that struck early Saturday in the Solomon Islands, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
The earthquake struck at 3:28 a.m. Hawaii time, according to the center. Based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no threat to Hawaii.
