Jessica Garcia’s first-grade class at Kealakehe Elementary School invited the Kealakehe Head Start preschool children into its classroom for the second year in a row, to take part in a Reading Buddies Program.

The first-graders paired up with a preschooler and read to them. The children explored various forms of literature, such as poetry, fairy tales, science anthologies, magazines and level readers. Students worked on communication skills, cooperation and fostering social skills.
