HONOLULU — The Hawaii National Guard has identified a soldier who died during a physical fitness test last week.
The Guard said Monday 32-year-old Sgt. Dwayne Torres of Ewa Beach was a recruiter for the Hawaii Army National Guard.
Torres fainted Friday while taking an Army physical fitness test at Schofield Barracks. He was taken to Wahiawa General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The 2000 Aiea High School graduate was married. He joined the National Guard in 2002. He deployed to Iraq two years later as a petroleum supply specialist with Company C of the 193rd Aviation Battalion.
The Guard says Torres’ cause of death is still unknown.
