HONOLULU — A convicted felon who failed to return from work furlough has been recaptured after more than two weeks on the lam.

KHON-TV reports 52-year-old Allan Abihai was taken into custody Sunday night by sheriffs and the U.S. Marshal’s fugitive task force.

Lt. Koa Dobrowolsky says Abihai was picked up in a public housing apartment on Kinau Street known as Pumehana.

Abihai in 1985 was convicted of attempted murder, robbery, sexual assault and kidnapping.

The Honolulu Star Advertiser reports he walked away from the Laumaka Work Furlough Center in 2006 and eluded capture for two months.

He was paroled in October 2009 but was returned to custody in June 2010 for violating parole.
